There are few things I look forward to more during the week than watching my favorite TV addiction, Empire. Mid-week wouldn’t be complete without a complex storyline from the Lyon family unfolding into an even more complex series of events. And America agrees – it’s no wonder the show became the fastest growing network drama since House. Another complex thing about the series is its current fashion situation. Cookie’s bold prints and explosive accessories, Lucious’ structured power suits and Anika’s curve hugging dresses, help to breathe life into Empire. Every new outfit offers a unique look into each of the characters’ distinct personalities.
When we first were introduced to the show, we were also introduced to Cookie’s over-the-top glam style. Rocking a leopard print dress, fur jacket, and hoop earrings, I dare anyone to try and tell her anything without their entourage present.
With Season 2 now in full swing, viewers have seen a more refined version of Cookie’s glam, complete with sophisticated wardrobe cameos from the likes of Chanel, Moschino, and Gucci.
Not only does Empire‘s main characters continually slay on screen, but their guest stars do as well. Naomi Campbell’s glittery DVF romper from season one was completely to die for. When Marisa Tomei helped to kick off Season 2 at the “Free Lucious Concert”, I nearly passed out from the comfort of my living room upon viewing her chic, patterned suit.
Each new episode comes jam packed with a fresh dose of delectable drama, and strong inspiration for my overall fashion game. I’ll be on the edge of my seat until this Wednesday, at 9PM.
