TTB Wine Review: Kitchen Sink Red Table Wine

Calling all wine drinkers, sippers, and everyone in between. TTB Wine has arrived! In this column we will explore the world of wine, introduce you to varieties you may not be familiar with, and take any pretentiousness out of the wine experience. We are especially interested in those who swear they can only drink red or only drink white or hate wine all together. This will be an interesting and fun journey into the wonderful world of wine. Now let’s be clear, we are   by no means  experts, we simply love wine, and want to introduce our readers to whatever happens to find its way into our glasses.

Our first wine will be introduced and reviewed by Leslie, TTB’s newest contributor. – Felicia

If there is one suggestion I can make when it comes to red wine is to open it up and let it breathe. I was given this sage advice by a wine expert at my favorite local wine shop. I am not above pouring a glass of red wine letting it sit for up to 15 minutes before I take that first sip. Just as in the practice of yoga one is focused on the breath, allowing a red wine to breathe by letting the oxygen in the air commingle with the wine, brings about a much richer tasting and drinking experience.

Kitchen Sink Red Table Wine

Today’s pour on TTB Wine is an old favorite of mine,  Kitchen Sink Red Table Wine.   This is a California red blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Sirah.   This is a heavy wine. The smell is very deep, just like the color. Black cherries that have been smoked a bit and I taste a bit of pepper. I love to enjoy this wine two days after first opening. Kitchen Sink is not sweet — the finish is strong but smooth with an ever so slight tart bite at the end.

This time around I was drinking Kitchen Sink while enjoying my infamous meatloaf. But this wine can easily stand up to anything spicy, ethnic, or Barbequed.  My friend, Marie, was kind enough to make me lasagna and I can happily report that Kitchen Sink Red Table with lasagna is also a winning combo.

This wine should retail between $10-13/bottle.
