Designer: Jill Stuart
Hair: Kérastase Paris
Stylist: Odile Gilbert
Inspiration: The inspirational phrase that kept coming up backstage at the Jill Stuart Spring/Summer 2014 show was “rock and roll.” Think “Girlfriends on a beach holiday waking up slightly hungover.”
Judging from this model, I think the stylist more than pulled off the look.
Get the Look: To achieve the appropriate rock and roll runway hair, it was all about texture. Start with an imperfect middle part, slightly messy and uncentered. Use Kérastase Boucles D’Art Curl Defining Hair Mousse to build the roots of hair up, then with 1 inch curling iron, make waves in middle of hair only, leaving ends straight. Finish everything with Kérastase Paris Powder Bluff Dry Shampoo and Kérastase Laque Dentelle Micro-Mist Fixing Hairspray.
Pro Tip: How do you protect your hair from overstyling? Gilbert says it’s all about using high quality products!
Nails
Manicurist: Julie Kandalec for Essie
Inspiration: Rock and roll, of course!
Get the Look: So blue it’s black, ‘After School Boy Blazer‘ is brand new for Fall and was the chic choice for both hands and feet. To achieve it at home, simply paint two coats over one coat of ‘First Base Base Coat‘ on your slightly rounded nails. Top with ‘Good to Go.’
Fall 2013 Nail Trend Alert: Looking for a new nail color? Kandalec suggests jewel tones like ‘Going Incognito,’ a deep emerald by Essie.
MAKEUP
Makeup Artist: Aaron De Mey, SEPHORA Artistry Ambassador
Inspiration: The cool girl who goes out at night and wakes up in the morning with messy, grungy eyes.
Get the Look: It’s all about a fresh face and a strong eye. After all, strong eyes are best offset by a flawless complexion.
- Start by strategically using Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick and Givenchy Mister Light Instant Light Corrector Pen on your face, only where needed to disguise redness and hide any imperfections. Then set with Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder, while letting your natural cheek color shine through. Add dimension with a light application of Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil on cheekbones, bridge of nose, and chin.
- Using Givenchy Magic Kajal Eye Pencil in Magic Black, sketch around the upper and lower lash line, and smudge into the crease. Add a dot of the metallic silver from Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye-Con No. 7 Plush Shadow Palette in The Starlet 204 to the inner corners of the eye for brightness. Dab Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil on the lid for glossiness with fingertips, blend and smudge. Finish eye with generous coats of Sephora Collection Outrageous Volume Mascara in Black.
- Brows are combed through with Anastasia Brow Powder Duo and lips are left bare, or dabbed with a clear gloss like Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Crystal.
TTBTip: On a budget? Try the glossy eye look using Vaseline.
