5 Insanely Practical Gifts Every Mom Will Love

I love kids. I mean who doesn’t? However, loving kids and wanting to be a mom are two entirely different things. I tell everyone that I am Mommy Support. I show up, play peek-a-boo for an hour, paint nails, do hair, bake cupcakes, make Halloween costumes and help with homework. I’ll even take the kids for a weekend while the parents go off for a little rest and relaxation…or just so they can go half on even more babies. As Mother’s Day is approaching, I started thinking about the gifts I would like to receive if I were a mom and the gifts I would give to my friends who are moms. Here are 5 Insanely Practical Gifts Every Mom Will Love.

GALAXY NOTE PRO 12.2

Samsung GALAXY NOTE PRO 12.2

I observe my mom friends closely…sometimes they barely have time to use the bathroom without someone saying “mommy” or letting out a cry. This means that free time is extremely precious and multitasking becomes second nature. The Galaxy Note Pro makes multitasking easier and it has features like a full keyboard which makes responding to emails and coveting the lives of childless friends on Facebook that much easier. The Galaxy Note Pro also allows mom to perform a Google search for the best method to remove tomato sauce stains from her favorite white button down, search a new hidden veggie recipe on Pinterest and catch up on what’s trending on twitter all at the same time. It’s super lightweight and portable which means when she really has to escape, she can quickly grab it and hide in the closet for that ‘Oh My God these kids are gonna kill me’ Skype session with her BFF.  Starting at $599

Spa Certificates (and DIY Coupon for Free Child Care)

I saw my girlfriend the other day and her toes looked ridiculous. She was bordering on salmon snatching upstream status. Her nail polish had almost grown all the way off her toes and don’t even get me started on the state of her heels. Giving a mom just a spa, or something like a Dry Bar  certificate is not necessarily helpful because she has to not only find the time to go to spa but also find a person to babysit. However, giving her said certificate and a DIY child care certificate where you come over and watch the kid(s) while she goes off for five hours to restore her humanity and you will be lauded as the best friend or family member ever! Check Spa Week to find a suitable spa that is no more than 20 minutes from her home. If you want be super nice, throw in some Uber credits  for her travel  and I’m sure sure she’ll rename her child after you, even if your name is Winston or Mable.

Wine Club Membership

Virgin Wines

I often hear that the daily glass of wine after the kids are all in bed is pure bliss. Reward your mom friends for bringing tiny humans into the world by ensuring that if she wants wine, she can have it, responsibly, of course. Virgin Wines has an introductory offer for 15 bottles of wine for $69.99 plus shipping. You can select red and/or white wines based on your mom friend’s taste. Starting at $69.99

Fresh Direct

I love going to the grocery store. Seriously. However, for many moms this is a chore that they could do without. Fresh Direct will deliver grocery items right to her door all she has to do is put the baby down and grab the bags. Start her off with a gift card and she can take it from there. Click here to see if Fresh Direct is available in her area.

Flowers Not on Mother’s Day

1800flowers

Getting fresh flowers on Mother’s Day is great. However, getting flowers on a random Tuesday will keep your mom friend on a high for days, maybe even weeks. Sometimes moms get overwhelmed to the point where they can’t think straight. Some moms might feel everything in their life is about their kid(s)…and sometimes it might be. Taking the time on a random Tuesday to say to a tired, overwhelmed mom, “hey, you’re awesome” might mean more to her than if she receives a dozen arrangements on the one designated mommy day. 1-800-Flowers has great offers or you can check a local flower shop in your mom friend’s neighborhood.

If you have friends or family members that are moms, at the very least, take the time to check in from time to time. Don’t just wait for Mother’s Day. Being a mom is hard, and that’s coming from a person who only provides Mommy Support.
