Why cant it be all love?…

Yes folks it happens.  I do not love every product I try….hard to believe but tis true.

I try to fill the pages of my blog with products that  I really love versus blasting things that I don’t.  But part of my responsibility as Beauty Editor of ThisThisBeauty is to write about the good, the bad, and the “this made me look ugly”  So without further ado…

Here’s something that made me look ugly – –

Here’s how our courtship  began….
While in Chicago a week ago I tried this out.  Initially it was lust at first sight. The pencil had all the right makings…soft pigmented pencil on one end and a gentle spongy smudger on the other.  Here’s Stila’s claim:

“Stunning color and unbelievable ease is what you can expect with stila’s convertible eye color. This versatile, dual-ended eye color wand is a sleek, pen-shaped makeup ace that has an eye pencil on one end and a smudging tool on the other. Twist the middle and there you have the perfect coordinating eye shadow ready for application. Perfect for the stila girl who is looking for no mess, no fuss and no worry color-coordinated lids in a flash!”
I gently stroked this super soft highly pigmented liner across the back of my hand as the thrill of a great find pulsated up my spine.  After first swatching the color “slate” and noticing the softness of the liner and rich pigment of the color, I eagerly swatched all of the colors on display and then tried to enforce some type of self restraint and limit myself to the purchase of just a few and not the entire collection.
I managed to tear myself away from the Stila Convertible Eye Color orgy.  Damage was around 3 pencils (onyx, slate, and teak).  I was so in love with these puppies.  Very rich, true color.  And the softest pencil I had every tried.  And here, my friends, is where the love-fest  ends.
Its the next day and I’m doing my makeup.  No sooner had I applied my Urban Decay Primer Potion, shadow, and my brand Stila new liner…I noticed that the liner had completely bled onto my upper lid.  What the???  I was really upset.  I  haven’t seen a liner do this in years…and certainly not a liner under the influence of  UDPP.  So you already know where those liners were headed? That right, back to Sephora!
Now maybe my lids are super oily (which they are) or maybe I  didn’t give the liner time to “set”…who the hell knows!  But I’ll tell ya what I do know – No $20 eye liner needs to be acting like that.  Nuff said!
If you’ve had a different experience with the aforementioned product please share.      I totally recognize different strokes for different folks.  So please let me know if you’ve had a different experience or if you know of a special technique for the application of this product.  But honestly, at $20 a pop…all them lil special techniques need to be built it.  LOL!
But I will admit this.  Stila’s onyx liner is the blackest I’ve seen in a while.  I was truly heart broken as I returned it.
But talk about the Lord working in mysterious ways.  Guess who just recently launched an amazing line of deep kohl pencils?  I’ll give you a clue.  Starts with “M” and ends with “C” and the first letter of the alphabet  resides in the middle.
Yes folks!  Check out the new kohl liners from the MAC  Starflash collection.  Review to follow soon.  I believe these liners are limited addition so stock up if you like them.
Ciao,
Felicia
