ThisThatBeauty Meets: Vincent Longo

This weekend, I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Vincent Longo and his team at SpaceNK, Short Hills. Mr. Longo and his crew of wildly gifted makeup artists spent the day doing makeovers and sharing expert tips and tricks about makeup application.

Mr. Longo graciously gave ThisThatBeauty an interview while creating a very beautiful look for moi…complete with sultry purple smokey eyes, beautiful bronzed cheeks, and highly glossed lips. After viewing my look I noticed how lifted and radiant my skin appeared. I inquired about Mr. Longo‘s technique for blush placement. Instead of the apples of the cheeks, he placed the blush on the highest points of my cheeks, practically avoiding the apples all together. Wow! OK! I see your work!

Mr. Longo explained:

“Based on your bone structure, putting the color on the apples will bring down your face. To give you a more lifted look, I placed the blush slightly higher. Not in a harsh 80’s sort of way, but in a very soft sophisticated manner.”

Well message received! I loved the look and I am VERY appreciative of the lesson. It’s no wonder Vincent Longo has created famous “face designs” for legendary models including Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum, Patricia Velasquez and Elle McPherson.
