Winter Skincare: 3 Cleansers for Oily Skin

A good skincare routine begins with a great cleanser.    If you wear makeup, you may start your nightly cleansing routine with a makeup remover or a cleansing oil but the next step inevitably has to be a cleanser that is right for your skin type.  I have combination/oily skin that has a tendency to feel dry even while it looks like an oil slick. During colder months, it can be a challenge to find a cleanser that provides a deep clean while leaving skin feeling fresh and balanced. Over the last two months, these cleanser, while formulated for all skin types, have been working like a dream to keep my oily skin in check. Here are 3 Cleansers for Oily Skin:

Eve Lom Cleanser

Cleansers for Oily Skin - Eve Lom Cleanser

This is one of the more unique cleansers I have ever used — not because of the ingredients but because of the method recommended for cleansing. It is a cleanser balm that is massaged into dry skin (even over makeup) and gradually worked into skin then removed with a muslin cloth and warm water.  The end result is skin that feels ridiculously clean and fresh. While the active ingredients are natural oils that soothe, soften and tone skin, the base is mineral oil and it uses parabens as preservatives — this might be a problem for some people, not me. This Eve Lom Cleanser gives one of the most refreshing and thorough cleans my face has ever experienced.  $80

Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser

I love to use just the tiniest amount of Tata Harper’s Regenerating Cleanser in the morning.  It has an invigorating citrus smell that immediately wakes up my face — even when my body is still asleep.  The cleanser gently exfoliates while detoxifying the skin. It also reduces the appearance of pores and promotes a healthy glow by increasing circulation (another reason it’s a great morning cleanser.)  $30

Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel

Cleansers for Oily Skin - Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil Gel

The Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel is a lightweight cleanser the  uses botanical ingredients to smooth, hydrate, and firm the skin. It also contains, allatoin, an anti-bacterial ingredient that deeply cleans the skin while helping to maintain natural moisture levels. I pair this cleanser with Boscia  Konjac Cleansing Sponge With Deep Hydrating Clay  ($15)  and it works even better and I can use the sponge to remove any residual eye makeup.  $28

  • The Eve Lom, Morningtime cleanser is a wonderful alternative if you want to use a mineral oil free product. It removes make up just as good as the original.
Is packaged in a tube, so more hygienic. Less scooping.
I love it, this is coming from someone who used the original for 15 years on and off.

    • Thanks for the info, Angie! Definitely going to look into the Morningtime cleanser.
