Who Are You Wearing: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week – Day 0

The day before the official start to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week always starts with a ceremonious bang and sets the tone for the next seven days to follow. Last season I launched Fashion Week with Aveda Advanced Academy and their Creative Director, Antoinette Beenders.

Yesterday I spent much of the day at Lucky Magazine’s first ever Fashion and Beauty Bloggers Conference (#luckyfabb)…and here’s what I wore:

Dress: Ellen Tracy (available at Macy’s – on sale NOW $44.99).

Yes, I said “Ellen Tracy”! Can you believe it? Ladies, the brand is alive and well, and recently revamped to appeal to a younger, fashion-inspired audience. I was recently invited to view ET’s current collection and I have to tell you — I was wow’d. I immediately spied several staple items that would make great multi-taskers. The brand was generous enough to allow me to pull a few pieces for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. So you will see me wear several pieces over the next few days as I am out and about on the scene.

Now a word on styling — For the dress, I wanted to embrace the loose/ relaxed influence that we’re seeing so much of…so I sized the dress up a size (I’m wearing a M versus my usual S). I then belted the dress and bloused it out quite a bit. My look is a rather “downtown” compared to the dress worn on the model on Macy’s website.

Don’t be afraid to play “stylist” with your clothes. Size up or down to get the fit you desire. Add accessories to suit your personal taste. I added a chubby knit scarf (Urban Outfitters) to rough up the dress a bit. Dark tights (Target) and ankle booties (Christian Louboutin) also brought the dress down a few pegs from what you see on the model.

How might you style this dress differently? Do you like how I styled it? Please leave a comment and share your thoughts!

  • rock it!

looks so comfy, and loved how you styled it.

i would have knee high booted it but kept it just as relaxed and cool with the black tights

    • @Goody. Thank you for the comment! Knee boots would have been a great option as well. Same for slouchy boots for an ample bottom…it balances the bulk!
