It’s not often I celebrate Bastille Day, being American obviously, but when given the chance to enjoy some great makeup in honor of the French revolution, I gladly say “oui, ouiâ€. And so on this day to introduce their newest makeup line “French Accentsâ€, Votre Vu threw a truly Parisian party complete with Marie Antoinette wigs, Petanque courts and a mini guillotine. Displayed on lighted vanity tables adorned with gorgeous pastel floral arrangements and delicate mini gold birdcages, the 8 piece makeup range is meant to be an extension of their popular skincare range. “It seems only natural that once skin is made beautiful, you want to put good things on itâ€.
Though I try and love all my makeup equally, I did have a stand out favorite from this line – the Beaute de Bronze duo bronzer/blush. A matte bronzer is still rare nowadays, and when paired with a pinky-coral shimmer blush – it is the perfect cheek. Always a sucker for good brow products, I naturally gravitated towards the Arch de Triumphe brow gel. Using the angle brush to apply (which made it foolproof), the gel was extremely lightweight, bonding immediately to the hair but setting quickly and drying down to a great finish. Following a great brow, I finished off my eye look with the super soft and water-resistant Le Joli Crayon eye pencil and Eiffel Power mascara. I instantly loved the brush on the mascara, which was densely bristled and full. An added perk was the formula contains cottonseed extract, which is great at keeping the lashes moisturized – beauty and benefits! Love. A sleeper hit that pleasantly surprised me was the retractable powder brush, which was amazingly soft and buffed in the fragrance and talc-free loose powder flawlessly. A swipe of the Vu-On Rouge cheek/lip tint on my lips gave me a subtle “bitten-lip†look, rounding out my uncomplicated and effortless look. C’est Magnifique.
