As the mom of a two-year-old, cold and flu season weigh very heavily on my mind. And with my history of asthma, I take every precaution to stay on top of Phoebe’s colds…at this age, babies aren’t really diagnosed as “asthmaticâ€, but Phoebe’s colds can turn respiratory-related real quick. *insert worrisome sigh*
One thing that I use to help keep the air in her bedroom healthy is a humidifier. And, good Lord – I have gone through my fair share in the last 2 years. My chief humidifier complaint is, yuck, the filter! Did I already say ‘yuck’?…because these filters get really gross…like, a breeding ground for bacteria that gets re-circulated into the air. And as a result, I’ve wasted far too much money on underperforming humidifiers. But finally, I’ve wised up – with Dyson! It’s pricey, $499, so stick with me here.
The first feature that won me over is Dyson‘s ultraviolet light technology, which kills all (well, pretty much all – 99.9%) bacteria in water. As I had previously mentioned, my main gripe with humidifiers is the nasty nature of the whole filter situation. Hygiene is numero uno in my book, so Dyson scores high marks here.
Humidifiers help to soothe dry eyes and skin, which is especially prevalent during winter when we’re blasting central heat indoors. My little one is prone to nose bleeds so a humidifier is essential to her good health. It’s also essential that the humidifier evenly distribute the moisture mist, otherwise, it’s just not very effective. Dyson‘s Air Multiplierâ„¢ technology wins in the “even mist” distribution depar
In testing the Dyson Humidifier for Phoebe’s comfort, I made a few “vanity†observations. As most new moms will admit (well maybe some won’t), we spend a lot of time in our kid’s room. For me, it starts out with me reading a bedtime story and before I know it, I’m asleep… right along with Phoebe. And as this went on for weeks (yes, weeks *sigh*) I noticed something – by skin and hair definitely feel healthier. My face normally gets so super dry in winter, but it’s noticeably less dry as a result of the Dyson Humidifier. The perfectly humidified mist helps to hydrate my skin in a way that creams cannot. There’s a noticeable difference in my skin when I sleep in Phoebe’s room and when I sleep in my own bedroom. I feel like the “beauty benefit” is an added bonus that I wasn’t expecting – but I’ll gladly accept better skin, thank you very much! In fact, I’m planning to purchase a second Dyson Humidifier for my bedroom…it’s the newest add on to my winter skin care routine!
Dyson Humidifier is available at Target and Buy Buy Baby. It retails for $499.
