Try Before You Buy

Hola Beautiful –

Let me set the scene for you. You’re reading the current issue of Allure magazine and they’re touting the benefits of the latest and greatest antioxidant, foundation, cleanser, whatever. You’re thinking to yourself, “Wow, this product sounds amazing and would solve all of my skincare woes. I better go out and buy it ASAP”! Hold it right there my little product whore. Before you go out and buy that miracle in a jar, check out the product reviews on MakeupAlley.

What is MakeupAlley, you ask? It’s a beauty community featuring articles, interviews, a makeup swap, product reviews and message board.

From their site:
MakeupAlley was launched in 1999 as a small community of beauty consumers. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest beauty social networks on the web today. MakeupAlley is a buzzing interactive community reaching women around the globe with millions of page views each day. On MakeupAlley you’ll find millions of member generated product reviews, message board posts, shopping diaries, product trades and member photo pages covering topics such as makeup, hair care, fragrance, fashion, food, skin care, bath & body, fitness, wedding, nails, and & other topics of the day. No matter where or when you are on MakeupAlley, you’ll find real-time information and advice relevant to your needs.

I stumbled upon MakeupAlley a couple of years ago….and what a resource it has been! I never purchase new products without first consulting MakeupAlley.

Hope you too find MA to be a valuable resource.

  • Yep, the h-way. It basically means i’m crazy for makeup. I believe the term is pretty well known and commonuly used by makeup/ product connoisseurs

Okay, I know this is a really really strange question, but as you enjoy saying you’re a makeup whore…do you pronounce whore with a “hh” sound (“hoar”) or with a “wh” sound like whale? Everyone I know says it the h-way but I always thought the w was pronounced. Again, sorry for the crazy question, just curious…
