Every time there is a new major skincare launch, I get absolutely giddy with excitement. It’s like Christmas morning over and over and over. There has been a ton of hype surrounding the launch of Sunday Riley’s new face oil, Luna, and rightfully so. Her other three oils, Artemis, Juno and Isis quickly became cult classics. So, could Sunday Riley do it again? Yes. Yes, she most certainly can.
I usually think of oils as great products for nourishing, hydrating and soothing the skin, but Luna packs a serious anti-aging punch with the addition of a trans-retinol ester. This advanced retinol complex is designed to target fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, pore size and the loss of elasticity. Whew. That covers just about everything. And thankfully, it does just about everything when you use it.
It is recommended for use in the evening, typically as your last step. I prefer to use this alone after cleansing and toning, or occasionally I will layer over a serum. It has the texture of a thick oil, but surprisingly sinks right into the skin. The formula is blue in color, which was a tad shocking to see at first, but thankfully it disappears almost immediately after it is massaged in. From the very first night, I was able to see a difference in how nice my skin looked – even toned, smooth and not a dry patch in sight. After using it over the past few weeks, I began to see the pesky dark spot on my chin begin to fade, as well as any remaining scars from previous blemishes or breakouts were slowly fading. Though it nourishes enough to be a great addition to your winter routine, it is incredibly lightweight so it will surely transition well into spring and summer. And at a $105 price point, being able using it year round is a necessity.
Sunday Riley Luna is available at Sephora and retails for $105.
