I’m getting a weave and I’m excited! Now, before you roll your eyes and dismiss my excitement, please note I have never had a weave. When I had relaxed hair I, on occasion, wore clip in extensions…but nothing close to a full weave. For this inaugural weave voyage the hair is being provided by International Hair Company – a premier brand of high quality hair extensions and clip-ins.
Selecting the Hair
I chose the hair based on the kind of weave I think my hair will support. I have very coarse natural hair that blends with nothing. Seriously. So, in my mind my only option is a full weave with bangs because I don’t want to be beating my hair into submission to get it to resemble Virgin Remy Straight hair. Can you even imagine the struggle? I see so many people with weaves who simply choose the wrong hair or the wrong style for the hair they have. If your hair is coarse and you intend to try to blend your hair with a weave, select hair that is closer to your own natural texture.
In addition to having coarse hair I also have a big head. (Yeah, I said it. I once had a hat salesman laugh at me because his stupid hat couldn’t fit my awesome head.) Anyway, after consulting with the stylist she told me I needed 2 plus packs of hair, so, I requested three packs of Virgin Indian Remy Straight hair in 16 and 18 inches to be on the safe side. International Hair Company sells hair in 4 ounce bundles. I’m told that two bundles is usually enough for a full weave on a normal sized head. I selected machine wefted Indian Remy hair for simplicity. However, the company also sells hand wefted hair in a variety of textures and lengths.
About Virgin Indian Remy Hair
Virgin Indian Remy Hair is high quality human hair that has the natural body and movement of healthy hair. The hair is untreated so the cuticles are intact and run in the same direction. This prevents tangling and gives the hair a somewhat natural sheen and luster. This hair can be curled and colored. It should be cared for as you would care for your natural hair. See hair care instructions from International Hair Company here.
