My Shiny Mama crush of the moment is their Precious Gems Gleam All Dual Makeup Stick. It glides on to the skin beautifully and adds just the right amount of shimmer (not glittery at all). I use the gold on the inside corner of my eyes for a bit of shine and still manage to look professional…again, I’m talking “glow” and not “glitter”. One end is a goldish tone called “sunray”. The other end is a silvery tone called “frost”.

Another use that I’ve found for this amazing little stick, is as a highlighter for the face…not just the eyes. I have used the stick to add a touch of gold to my cheeks before adding blush and blend them together for a dewy look…and HONEY…watch out!

The Precious Gems Gleam All Dual Makeup Stick is definitely my favorite of Shiny Mama Shimmer Collection. I love that this lovely little stick can be used on the eye, lip, cheeks, etc. Its perfectly safe to use all over.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Yana Chupenko, the lovely and vivacious creator of Shiny Mama Cosmetics.

Yana. Thank you very much for talking with ThisThatBeauty. Does Shiny Mama fill a void in the beauty industry?

Shiny Mama:

Well first of all it’s like reinventing the wheel constantly. Everything seems so corporate an boring these days without much individuality. I want to add a bid of edginess to the market and hopefully create a little cult – a special club of discerning women who love/appreciate what I do. My new trademarked tagline is also ‘Nature in Couture’. My new pencil does not contain artificial petroleum based chemical preservatives such as Parabens but rather have natural preservatives. It’s made with moisturizing and conditioning properties of Sunflower Seed Oil and Shea Butter, as well as natural preservative and antioxidant of Rosemary Leaf. My new products going forward will be mineral based when needed and as natural as possible and without harmful chemical crap. Everyone is on the mineral organic bandwagon so I will not shove this down anyones throats in my marketing branding but rather just have it be the status quo.

What is your favorite Shiny Mama product and why?

Shiny Mama:

I love the Glitters- they are the best soft quality on market as I’ve been told endlessly by performers, dancers, burlesque stars…..and the Pink shade was old Tony & Tiny best seller and so elegant and not overwhelming. No pink like it out there for sure. Shimmer alls are cool but the main thing about them is the packaging with applicator sponge in cap!
The new Gleam All multipurpose double-ended pencil rocks and is so versatile.

TTB: Lastly, how did you come up with such a cool name for your product line?

Shiny Mama:

Well I am a performer /singer first and foremost and have been in the alternative punk/metal/rock music scene since 1984 (yes I was a fetus when started LOL). I was in one of the seminal all girl hardcore/punk bands of the 80’s. Shiny Mama was my nickname and the name of my rock band. So naming the make up brand is a natural progression.
