I remember when Proactiv first came on the scene. Those informercials were so addictive…I couldn’t turn away. I tried the original product line, and for a while it actually worked…really well. This was in my early 20s. Somewhere around late 20s it stopped working and I moved on to skin care that was more effective for my approaching-30’s skin. (However, the Proactiv Refining Mask has always remained a staple in my arsenal.)
Fast-forward to 40 and, shockingly, I have found a new “not Proactiv”…but “from the makers of Proactiv”, product to love. Want to have your mind further blown? It’s a product specifically formulated for…wait for it — TEENS!
I recently reached for X Out Acne Wash-In Treatment to tackle my regularly, pimple-y chin. Real talk: I’m at a point where I’ll try almost anything on this chin o’ mine *insert struggle emoji*….and I guess this helps to explain why a 40 year old woman (Hey, I’ll be 41 in two months!) would even think of trying a teeny bopper acne product. But…but — Joke’s on you! Because it actually works. (But, I have more “buts”)…
The way I use this product is very specific — chin only! It’s wayyy too drying to use all over on mature skin like mine. Also, I use it only 2-3 times a week and at night. It contains 8.5% Benzoyl Peroxide to help kill acne causing bacteria on contact. The downside is, for older skin like mine, if used all over, and daily…well, I’d be super dry all over. So, just limit X Out ® Acne Wash-In Treatment to the chin area a couple of nights per week and you’ll be golden! [Click here for more TTB Coverage on X-Out.]
I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something that’s sort of off the beaten path. Do you ever dabble in products not specifically formulated for your age group?

Interesting. Wouldn’t mind trying it out but not get locked into their auto delivery program. My mid dirty 30s skin is always on the look out for good acne treatments that won’t dry the crap out of my skin. *stores this in my mental rolodex*
