O-Glow You Didn’t?…

So it seems mood makeup is back and in full effect over at Smashbox cosmetics.

When Smashbox first introduced their O-Glow Intuitive cheek stain some time ago I rushed right out to give it a try. For starters, I love blush so I’m always on the hunt for great colors, textures, etc. O-Glow is especially appealing because it claims to adjust to your individual body temp and create a natural flush that is unique to you.

“Experience instant chemistry as your complexion is transformed from so-so to oh-so-glowing! The first intuitive blush, this clear gel reacts with your personal skin chemistry to turn cheeks the color you blush naturally, in just seconds! O-GLOW works on every skin tone, from the lightest to the darkest, to give everyone a customized flush of color.”

Well that’s their claim. My take is that the O-Glow product line (cheek stain and lip gloss) is over hyped is mood makeup circa the 80’s.

The blush gel starts clear and when applied it turns pinkish fuchsia. It’s the same color on my cheek as it is on a piece of paper. No adjusting to body heat is happening. The same goes for O-Gloss. I saw no unique color pay off…just that same pinkish fuchsia that happens on a piece of cold dead paper.

I really hate to write reviews that are less than glowing (pun intended). My preference is to review products that I love in hopes that you too will love them. But I guess we have to take the good with the bad. The review if this product was done at the request of a ThisThatBeauty reader (hi LSS, keep the requests coming!). If you have a product you’d like reviewed, give me a holler.

  • Amy I am so glad this worked for you!

  • I tried the product and was surprised that it worked! Yes, when I first applied, the gel was fuchsia in color, but the color changed to a carnation pink for me after a minute. The color only lasted for an hour and I did not want to reapply another layer since the gel left a matte film on my cheeks.
