You’re roaming the beauty aisle of your favorite drugstore or big box store and there it is…a $24 eye cream! In the past, the drugstore was only for inexpensive products, but these days, more high end/high price – or “Masstige†– products have been staking their claim on the shelves alongside the old standbys. I love that I can get my Tylenol, toilet paper, and fancy face cream in one stop. But what products are worth the splurge? Here are a few ‘masstige’ beauty products worth buying.
Vichy Laboratoires Eau Thermale Spa Water
Vichy is actually 85 years old, but this brand, which is the #1 anti-aging brand in European pharmacies, still feels fresh. This ultra refreshing facial water is packed with 15 minerals that hydrate and protect the skin from environmental damage, making it the perfect spritzer whenever your skin needs a pick-me-up. Price: $14 at Walgreens
ProX by Olay Advanced Facial Cleansing System with Facial Brush
Olay is my favorite Masstige brand, simply because I love virtually every product I try (a tall order). This system includes a water-resistant 2-speed facial cleansing brush and a trial size of Olay’s Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser. Together, this cleansing team will remove makeup and the day’s grime in a flash and improve the absorption of your moisturizing products. Batteries included. Price: $37.99 at Walgreens
La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer with SPF 30
This day cream with SPF 30 feels very light and absorbs quickly, but somehow leaves my dry winter skin feeling nourished. Ceramide-3 and La Roche-Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water intensely hydrate the skin while also bolstering the skin’s natural defenses. Price: $15.99 at Target
Olay Luminous Miracle Boost Concentrate
Another favorite from Olay is this new fluid, which helps the skin absorb your other treatment products more effectively – especially the other Luminous products – while also helping to fade dark spots and give the skin a glow. Price: $24.87 at Walmart
RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Eye Cream
I love the treatment benefits of Retinol, but it can be a bit too potent around the eye area. This cream is milder than the other RoC Retinol products, but combines Retinol and Hyaluronic Acid to effectively combat the signs of aging around the eye. It feels very lightweight and soothing around the eye. Price: $23.99 at Walgreens
AmLactin Rapid Relief Cerapeutic Restoring Body Lotion
If you struggle with dry body skin, this Rapid Relief lotion should do the trick. It contains alpha hydroxy acid and ceramides to tackle dry skin in a way most other moisturizers can’t. It will feel a wee bit sticky going on, but it absorbs quickly and you’ll have baby smooth skin to show for it. Price: $15.99 at Target
Demeter Fragrance Library
Department store fragrances can be so pricey, but drugstore fragrances can be so ‘meh’. Thankfully, there’s the Demeter Fragrance Library. These scents are designed to replicate the fragrances of our emotional life, like Laundromat, and even Sex on the Beach. Demeter fragrances are straightforward and lovely you might feel compelled to start a collection — at $40, you won’t feel so guilty. Price: $39.99 at Walgreens.com and select Duane Reade locations
THE SERIOUS STUFF
AubÃo Cold Sore Treatment Gel
If you are among the 3+ billion people around the globe who suffer from cold sores, this product is for you. It helps relieve the discomfort from those pesky cold sores and encourages them to heal them more quickly. Price: $29.99 at Target
Mederma PM Intensive Overnight Scar Cream
You may know firsthand that scars are very tough customers. This OTC cream is the first of its kind to work while you sleep, which is the best time to tackle skin repair. The cream contains a blend of peptides, collagen, and antioxidants, which can help to make a scar less noticeable in two weeks. Price: $35.99 at Walgreens
Pura D’or Premium Organic Solutions Hair Loss Prevention Therapy Shampoo & Conditioner
If you are suffering from hair loss, take action! This shampoo and conditioner contain Niacin, Biotin and Argan oil to detoxify and nourish the scalp, encourage hair growth and protect from environmental stressors. Price: $24.99 and $17.44 at Walmart
OMG! This is so beautiful collection.Love the photos and the post 🙂
Great brand, right? You’ll love Amlactin if you have dry skin.
I’m in love with Olay! Can’t wait to try the new concentrate. I’ve heard good things about Amlactin as well.
