For me, once labor day (and New York Fashion Week) passes everything just blends together until it’s holiday party season — or as I like to call it my birthday #KanyeShrug. With my eye firmly fixed on the holidays, Verismo from JINsoon jumped out at me because it’s like an opulent party dress in a bottle. It’s has copper finish in a black base — the best part is that you get everything you need in just one coat!
If you have been reading this blog for a while you’ll know that I am a huge fan of JINsoon polishes and an even bigger fan of their creator, Jin Soon Choi. Jin’s collections are always very cohesive and small.
Verismo is part her latest collection, Operetta, inspired by Erté and featuring 5 beautiful colors:
- Aria (iridescent fuchsia, inspired by Floria Tosca’s gown in Tosca)
- Verismo (copper gold in black, inspired by Manon Lescaut’s cape inManon)
- Oratorio (shimmery beige nude, inspired by Cio Cio San’s robe in Madame Butterfly)
- Soubrette (textured purple, inspired by Donna Elvira’s gown in Don Giovanni)
- Cantata (gray with hint of purple shimmer, inspired by Mélisande’s dress in Pelléas et Mélisande)
Verismo is a bit heavy, so if you do two coats, you will need more time than usual to fully dry. That is unless you opt for a quick dry top coat. As always you should start with a base coat.
My manicure lasted 4 days before chipping. In my experience that is just about the best you can do wearing metallic polishes on natural nails. Verismo is still a keeper because it puts me in a fancy pants part mood — which is never a bad thing.
All JINsoon polishes retail for $18 and can be found at several retailers including: www.jinsoon.com, www.sephora.com, www.barneys.com and www.nordstrom.com.
