MAC Tendertones…You Got Served

Look who’s giving MAC Tendertones a run for its money. L’Oreal HIP!

Yes, everyone’s favorite drugstore brand, known for richly pigmented colors with massive staying power, has just released a product somewhat comparable to MAC Tendertones. Behold — L’Oreal HIP Jelly Balm.

Like Tendertones, Jelly Balm comes in a wide variety of yummy shades. I bought 4 of the approx 8 shades available. The consistency is very similar to Tendertones. Packaging is also very similar. Both come in a tiny clear glass pot with black screw off lid. Tendertones is .2 oz. L’Oreal is .159oz.

Tendertones is about $14.

Jelly Balm is about $8.99.

I got my Jelly Balm from Walgreen’s. This week they’re running a BOGO on all HIP products. (And a BUY ONE GET ONE 50% off on L’Oreal so ya know I had to stock up on my fav new eye serum)

The colors of the products are not exactly the same. Both Tendertones and MAC offer many delectable shades. I swatched four Jelly Balm colors for you below. They are:

Plush
Savory
Succulent
Ripe

The major difference in the quality/make up of these two products is – Tendertones has an SPF12. Jelly Balm has none. If SPF in your lip product is important to you, you might wanna pass on Jelly Balm for daytime use.

But other than that, Jelly Balm is a perfectly worthy of your pout!

Pucker up,

Felicia

  • hi juvenescent – I haven’t seen the new eye duos, just the old ones that i guess have been out for a couple of years. i do notice new shades from time to time, but I’m not aware of a new metallic duo. Now i do have a highlighter duo that I’ve yet to break out. I found it kind of randomly and thought…”hmmm, a highlighter duo, cool”. Maybe I’ll review it soon. Any interest?
