On the heels of last summer’s Italian Vogue all black issue, Italian Vogue is publishing a a special Barbie issue which will feature all black Barbies. Here’s what Editor-in-Chief, Franca Sozzani had to say about the upcoming issue:
“Barbie has been an icon for whole generations which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate [this] issue to Black Barbie.”
Well gone girl! I am intrigued.

@Miss Yaya, Karen, and Amber – Dang! Yall are tough customers. Let them folks do their artistic interpretation. They already gave you the black issue. What more yall want? LOL. But seriously, point taken, I personally find the doll concept to be rather intriguing. Black Barbie is cool, IMHO 🙂

I, for one, was obsessed with Barbie as a little girl, so I'm more than a little curious to see it. A whole issue of Barbies does strike me as more than a little odd, but I'm sure I'll still buy it.
I brought last year's Black issue but have to agree with Miss Yaya…it would have been better with real live black models. What's the point of using Black Barbie dolls?!?!?! Cute idea but poor execution on the part of Vogue if you ask me.
i'm liking the look but why didn't they use real black models and dress em up like barbie? guess it's cheaper with plastic!
