Halloween Inspired Nails featuring COVERGIRL and Jinsoon

Halloween is just around the corner and although you may not be able to (or want to) wear your devil costume to work, nail art is the perfect way to show your holiday spirit. For all of you who would rather not have pumpkins, skulls or ghosts on your nails, this week’s mani is the perfect alternative. It’s fast, it’s easy, it’s trendy and it involves a hint of glitter and studs. The only thing that would be better than that would be calorie-free candy corn! Can you even IMAGINE?! Sadly I can’t make you sugar free candy corn, however, I can give you a tutorial for a great set of Halloween inspired nails that are just booo-tiful.

Supplies:

Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
CoverGirl: Sulfur Blaze
JinSoon: Obsidian
Gold Studs: I used these
Nail Glue: I used this
Top Coat: Seche Vite

Apply your base coat. Let dry for 2-3 minutes. Using CoverGirl Sulfur Blaze, start at one side of the base of your nail. In one delicate line, drag the brush up to the tip of your nail at a slight angle.
Repeat step 2 on the other side. Do 1-2 more coats on both sides of your nail to create a richer gold. This will create the “upside-down-vâ€ effect. Let dry for 5 minutes. This doesn’t have to be perfect since the next step will cover most of the gold
Using JinSoon Obisidan, repeat steps 2 + 3 on both sides of your nail on top of the gold. Make sure you leave a little room between where your black starts and where the gold ends. This will create the layered effect. Let dry for 5 minutes.
Using your nail art glue, dab a little dot in the middle of your nail (where the â€˜v’ meets). If you’d rather not use glue, or if you just don’t have it, use your top coat instead. Let the stud settle in for 2-3 minutes, then seal the entire manicure (including the stud) with a healthy amount of your top coat. This will smooth out the design, leaving you with a spook-tacular masterpiece!

What’s great about this design is that you essentially have 4 different manis in 1. You can stop at step 1 for a cool twist on the french manicure. You can stop at step 2 for an understated backwards V. If you’re not feeling the studs, you can stop at step 3. Or, you could do the whole shebang and end at step 4!
