When Nine West Creative Director, Fred Allard, recently dished on key trends and must-have footwear styles for Fall 2010, naturally I was front and center with a pen and pad…taking copious notes for myThisThatBeauty readers!

It’s been years since I have worn Nine West, so last Saturday’s “Fall into Temptation” event at Nordstrom with Nine West and Elle magazine was the perfect opportunity to get reacquainted.

Fred alongside Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr, founders on the online fashion magazine WhoWhatWear.com, shared styling tips and their top shoe trends to watch!

Top trends for Fall 2010:

1) Utility – THINK: Military inspiration

Try the juxtaposition of hard and soft by mixing a rugged utility boot with feminine textures like lace, sequins, or fall florals.

2) Lacing – THINK: Menswear inspiration

The lace-up boots is a great way to add visual interest to a minimalist outfit.

3) Ladylike – THINK: 50’s secretary chic

Blame it on Mad Men. This style of shoe works well with high-waisted skirts and soft blouses. A skinny pant also flatters this shoe style.
