Last month I introduced you to ELLIS FAAS, a revolutionary line of liquid based cosmetics inspired by colors that naturally exist within the human body. Bergdorf Goodman is the brand’s first door in the US.
Shortly after the US launch of ELLIS FAAS I had the opportunity to experience the brand in-person in Bergdorf’s beauty atrium. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times, Bergdorf Goodman offers a breathtaking display of beauty eye candy …spend some time there!
I am so taken by the sheer brilliance and innovation behind ELLIS FAAS that I have committed to dissecting the collection piece by piece and doing an in-depth series on the various components of the line. Let’s begin with ELLIS FAAS: ELLIS SKIN and the ELLIS HOLDER
ELLIS SKIN consists of Skin Veil Foundation (in eight shades), Concealer (in eight shades), Blush (in four shades), and Powder (in three shades). With respect to Foundation and Concealer, the philosophy of the line is that the two work in conjunction and based on your complexion, a different degree of contrast is required. For example, darker skin demands more contrast between Concealer and Foundation while lighter skin requires Foundation and Concealer to be more similar in shade. ELLIS FAAS believes that Foundation should illuminate the skin without appearing heavy or give the appearance of an unsightly mask. And even though FAAS believes that dark skin and light skin require different degrees of contrast, the end result should always be natural and seamless. I decided to road test Skin Veil Foundation (shade 107), Concealer (shade 207 – under my eyes), and Powder (shade 403).
True to FAAS philosophy, the SKIN products deliver a finish that is natural, seamless, and free of harsh lines of demarcation. The Foundation illuminates, highlights and contours of the face. The Concealer is undetectable. See for yourself….
Here I am with my hair pulled back so that you can see the makeup. Can you believe I am wearing NO BLUSH? The highlight and contour is a result of the Concealer/ Foundation duo. [NOTE: The only other products in pictures include light mascara and light gloss (not ELLIS FAAS)]
And here I am showing off the makeup…and my new bangs (You like?:)). Even in a close up shot the makeup is virtually undetectable. I am wearing a generous layer of Foundation, along with Concealer and Powder.
It is impossible to discuss ELLIS FAAS with out swooning over the packaging. The ELLIS HOLDER, a lightweight, slick metal makeup holder, is the cat’s meow and the bee’s knees. All ELLIS FAAS products come in these cools silver pens that tidily fit into the streamlined handy dandy ELLIS HOLDER. Skin Veil fits in the middle of the holder and the other products (lipstick, mascara, eye shadow, blush) fill the remaining open slots. There’s even a snap on compartment for Powder. Pure genius! This makes the holder perfect for travel, the girl on the go, or the hottie that likes to keep her makeup streamlined…instead of rattling around in her purse!
ELLIS FAAS SKIN makes good sense and is plain ol’ good for you. The incorporation of minerals help diffuse light across skin’s surface and reduce the appearance of fine lines. And while I am not one to advise relying on a cosmetic product to provide your recommended daily dose of sun protection, the SPF 15 in Skin Veil Foundation is an added bonus (still wear your sunscreen, beautiful…if you want to stay “beautiful).
The Concealer pairs beautifully with Skin Veil Foundation, providing a look that is soft and polished. I primarily use the Concealer under my eyes as a brightener, but the Concealer provides enough coverage to reduce the appearance of slight blemishes and pigmentation imperfections. Enriched with Vitamin C, E, Karite oil, and rice wax, ELLIS FAAS Concealer hydrates and delivers anti-aging properties while it conceals.
The Powder is lightweight, transparent, and also contains SPF 15. Formulated with seaweed extract, ELLIS FAAS Powder offers the look of naturally mattified skin.
ELLIS FAAS is so new to Bergdorf’s that it’s not yet on their website…yet another reason for you to march on into the beauty atrium and check out the collection in person.
