New Year, New Nude! (Sorry, I couldn’t help it.) If you kept up with the runways during New York Fashion Week you would have noted that nude nails are back in a major way this winter and spring. (Ok, they never really left but just go with me here.) Nail art is going nowhere but it’s nice to have new nude alternatives for the more conservative gal or for those moments when you want to tone it down a bit. Capitalizing on this nail trend, Clinique, the expert in developing beautiful shade ranges to compliment all skin tones, has created a collection that includes 16 Shades of Beige — 8 nail polishes and 8 eye shadows. I’m really only here for the polishes, so, let’s get to it!
The nail polishes in 16 Shades of Beige are dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested and safe for sensitive skin and eyes.
I love a good nude mani and it is the best way to go when you are short on time and need a quick polish change. (If you mess up and don’t have time to clean up, nude is less visible on the flesh.) Remember that nude varies by skin tone and you should simply pick the color that most closely match the color of your skin.
For the look below I started with two coats of Peek a Boo, I See You — it’s not my true nude but I like the way it looks against my skin. My true nude would probably be Pajama Party or Tickle Me.
After applying the two coats of Peek a Boo, I See You, I simply used my dotting tool to add dots in various shades of beige. This manicure required very little dexterity and even less precision. The polishes wore for about 4 days before the first chip appeared.
