Speaking of daily style tips from the experts, I had the opportunity (dare I get mushy and call it an honor — it really was!) to interview June Ambrose. What unfolded was a lively tete-a-tete on the the influence of scent, the importance of sun protection, skin care musts, and plucky June-isms like “glamo-flage”. Read on for more:

The Caress/ Caress Fabulistas project is very exciting, and it’s a new extension for your brand. Can you talk to why this collaboration is a perfect pairing for you?
June Ambrose:
I’ve often been accused of being a mood dresser. And for me, it starts in the shower. It really sets my mood for the day. I tried the Caress body washes and I liked them. Really liked them! The scents last a long time and eliminate the need for lots of layering. I find that the scents clear my mind and I feel exhilarated. Sexy even. These new products evoke all the things that women want to feel. It was very organic for me to attach myself to something as spellbinding as scent. Much like fashion, scent really speaks to me.

Why is Endless Kiss Silkening Body Wash your favorite?
June:
The vanilla reminds of baking cookies. I love sweets. The sandalwood is somewhat masculine. . .and I love masculine scents [we pause to ‘ooh’ & ‘ahh’ over our shared infatuation of Tom Ford Santal Blush]. I love that the depth of the sandalwood in Endless Kiss reminds me of a luxe scent like Tom Ford Santal Blush. Caress is affordable luxury that I can share with all women. . . .that really attracted me to this project.

On ThisThatBeauty we preach safe sun and our routine is never without daily broad spectrum SPF. In addition to Caress Endless Kiss Silkening Body Wash, what is your beauty routine never ever without?
June:
SPF is a big one for me, too. I’m from the Caribbean, so, I know what excess sun exposure can do to skin. I’m very careful and use moisturizers with sun protection. Even my lip tints must contain SPF. My foundation also contains SPF. Big sunglasses and hats also help — they’re my “glamo-flage!”

June, we share something in common. The HuffPost/AOL Black Voices recently listed both of us as their top fashion/beauty people to follow on Instagram. Clearly social media is a great opportunity to share your personal brand. In what ways do you see your brand expanding over the next couple of years?
June:
Social Media is a great platform for building brands. It’s excellent guerrilla marketing and is really revolutionizing access to customers. The direct contact helps to foster organic connections. As for what’s on the horizon, for March 2013 I am launching an eye wear collection for HSN. So that’s exciting!

Lastly, can you leave us with a Fall gem? Either fashion or beauty related, what’s our “MUST”?
June:
I am really into spritzers and toners. We live in a concrete jungle…the elements are harsh — I love to refresh often. Most people think that spritzers are great for travel, and they are, but I think they’re also handy for everyday life — it’s like watering a plant. [as soon as June says ‘spritzers’, I immediately say to myself “get out of my head, June”. I mean, did I not just pen this profound post for the Bergdorf Goodman blog on the importance of misters? I’ll tell ya…great minds, June. Great minds!]
