Social media can be a bit overwhelming at times, especially for new comers. Questions like,”what do I post,” “who do I friend/follow” and “who cares what I have to say,” are some of the thoughts often uttered by those who are not avid users of social media. There is a new social media platform in town and it is all about giving you directions on what and when to post. AboutMyStyle gives users the opportunity to share their favorite snapshots of food, fashion, beauty and lifestyle with like minded users from all over the world. Each day a theme is selected and users have 24 hours to upload a photo that fits into the theme. It’s all about inspiring others and getting inspired by them. Below is a screenshot for the theme “What are You Wearing Today?”
Aboutmystyle was launched on May 15th, 2013, and currently has hundreds of users sharing and commenting on pictures. This platform targets women and girls from around the world and encourages them to share the nice things in their lives. Past themes have included: Spring is Beautiful, Perfect Leather, What’s in Your Bag and Signature Fragrance, to name a few. Below is a shot of the Signature Fragrance theme after the 24 hour period had expired (that’s my hand.) Even after a theme has been closed, you may still add photos to that date.
On AboutMyStyle you can follow other users, like and comment on photos, suggest themes as well as instantly share your uploads on Facebook and Twitter. Photos can either be uploaded directly from your camera or you can access your photo album and share images from your archives. Other features include photo filters and unlimited photo uploads. There is an iPhone App available for download in the App Store (Search Bontrup Media and select the AboutMyStyle icon) and an Android app is currently being developed.
In addition to uploading pictures and adding filters, the AboutMyStyle editors have giveaways and other extras for users based on photos they post. Aboutmystyle is like your own themed lifestyle photo diary with a new photo-assignment every 24hours. If you are a blogger there is a widget that allows you to display your photos on your blog. Look to the right of this post and you will see my recent photo uploads to the site.

You may sign up by creating an account or by using your existing Facebook account. Whether you are a seasoned social media user or a new newbie, with AboutMyStyle the possibilities are endless; however, you don’t have to feel overwhelmed because you are guided and inspired to post photos based on a theme.
