Facial masks are kind of a big deal. They have a myriad of uses and come in multiple forms. Facial mask can help to brighten skin, tighten pores, hydrate, exfoliate and leave skin with a dewy finish reminiscent of a quick visit to the esthetician. As the seasons change, here are a few masks from myself, Christene and Felicia to help keep your skin in tip top shape through fall, winter and beyond.
Karuna Hydrating + Face Mask
Cooler temperatures call for an increase in moisture for the skin and a great hydrating mask is one of the fastest ways to pump up the volume on dewiness. This mask uses Hyaluronic Acid for intense hydration, peptides to help regenerate skin and chamomile and aloe vera to soothe and heal skin. With this in your arsenal get ready to unleash your inner glow! (Sephora.com, $28)
Biore Self-Heating One Minute Mask
Short on time? With Biore’s Self-Heating One Minute Mask you can take skincare into your own hands in 60 seconds flat. The Self Heating One Minute Mask has two active ingredients, charcoal and zeolite. Zeolite is water activated to heat up the skin, open pores and allow the charcoal to pull out impurities. Who says you can’t have it all? ( Ulta.com, $6.99)
Glamglow SuperMud Clearing Treatment
One of my favorite masks right now is Glamglow SuperMud Clearing Treatment. This mask uses Alpha Hydroxy and Beta Hydroxy acids to unclog pores and provide gentle exfoliation, while the kaolin clay and activated charcoal help to draw out impurities and minimize pores. Use as a spot treatment or all over the face. Definitely worth the splurge! ( Sephora.com, $69) – Tiffany
Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask
I have oily skin but it tends to feel dry underneath the oil slick that is my face. During cooler months oil production slows down but makes way for dull, dehydrated skin. Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask is one of my favorites to give my skin a moisture boost. This mask is loaded with amazing ingredients like vitamins A, C, E and F, Lactic acid, hydrolyzed protein, green tea extract, grapeseed and olive oil and a host of others. It seriously will have your skin looking and feeling more moisturized after only 20 minutes! (Ulta, $49)
Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment
Exfolikate is not marketed as a mask but I love to use as such. It is formulated with both physical and enzyme exfoliatants and will have your skin looking refreshed, renewed and radiant after one use. When I first started using it I followed the directions and kept it on for only two minutes but over time I realized I could leave it on a bit longer for more dramatic results. After use a follow with a light soothing serum and moisturizer. (Sephora.com, $85)
Karuna Luxe Skin Regenerating Face Mask
My list wouldn’t be complete without a sheet mask. I recently discovered the Karuna Luxe Skin Regenerating Face Mask and I really like it. Unlike some sheet masks that skimp on the serum in the mask, Karuna masks are completely saturated — after you apply the mask there is enough liquid in the pouch to cover your neck and decollete. If you have seriously dry skin, this mask is a must try. (Sephora.com, $58) – Christene
Coast to Coast Pore Purifying Green Clay Mask
Right now my masks are about two things– ratchet hormonal chin banishment and post trauma hydration. Coast to Coast Pore Purifying Green Clay Mask is my current go-to every other night. It is formulated with kaolin clay, aloe juice, glycerine and other ingredients to help calm my acne prone chin and draw out impurities. Sometimes I dab a little as an overnight spot treatment. (coasttocoastaustralia.com, $24.95)
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay
To take complete control of my disrespectful chin, once per week I call in the big guns and use Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Deep Pore Cleansing mask . Mixed with raw apple cider vinegar, this INTENSE weekly masks reboots everything and gets all of the crap out. (Amazon.com, $7.99) – Felicia
