6 Fashionable Coats Under $200

My biggest complaint about winter (other than the cold, and the weather, I could go on…) has to be the price of the clothing.   Summer is easy with a dress and sandals, but in the colder months, there are sweaters, boots, and the worst offender…..COATS!   Everything is so expensive that one cannot possibly stay as fashionable as possible when it takes months to save up for anything.   So, I set out to give everyone a break and find 6 amazing coats under $200.   Yes, you heard right, coats for under two hundred dollars!

6 Coats under $200

(from top left to right)

1. Faux Fur Collar Black Belted Coat – I LIVE for a fur collar – it seems so decadent, so luxurious and instantly adds a bit of finesse to any outfit, am I right?   And naturally a belted version is always a plus as it adds definition to the waist which is essential when most of a winter’s wardrobe is big and bulky.   I see this worn with a dress out in the evening, or for an elegant, chic day look with a pencil skirt and turtleneck.   Available at Oasap for $144.00.

2. J. Crew Quilted Jacket – If you reside in a year round warm climate, then you may not understand the need for a puffer coat of any kind.   But as a NYC resident, I have at least 5 of them in my wardrobe as they are essential to me surviving the winter.   Sometimes however, they can be quite bulky so a fitted waist-style version is the perfect way to keep toasty without feeling like the marshmallow (wo)man.     Available at J.Crew for $158.00.

3. Romwe New Style Lapel Dark Blue Coat   – You are running late and need to throw on something to pull your outfit together but you don’t have time to think about it?   Solution – a wool, belted wrap coat in a neutral navy color.   There is not a single outfit that I can not see paired with this jacket, and while it can easily be dressed up for evening, it will probably be your most used day time coat.   Sweater dress, skinny jeans, pencil skirt, wool shorts, leather leggings – just try to find something this won’t go with — you can’t!   Available at Romwe for $69.99.

4. Romwe Faux Leather Black Coat   – There is something so edgy about leather whether real or faux, and it is nice to spice up a typical black wool coat with some faux leather accents.   Though the look is a tad more non traditional, the style is still easy enough to wear every day, even to the office.   Available at Romwe for $59.00.

5. Topshop Plaid Coat   – I kept all my coats solid colors for years until I finally took the plunge and bought a plaid version, and I never looked back.   With the coat being the pattern and statement, it is good to keep everything else neutral.   Throw on a cozy sweater and your favorite skinny jeans and you are set!   Available at Topshop for $170.00.

6. Romwe Fitted Black Cape   – When all else fails, put a cape on it – has quickly become my fall/winter motto.   I purchased a cape many years ago and was a tad hesitant that I wouldn’t get good wear out of it.   Boy was I wrong – it became a staple in my wardrobe and the easiest coat I had in my wardrobe to wear.   It can be layered over a large sweater, vest, even another coat for additional warmth – but it can’t be denied that the shape of a cape is one of the chic-est silhouettes out there.   And at this price, you can’t afford NOT to give it a go.   Available at Romwe for $90.99.
