#TTBFaves: Featuring Estee Lauder, Dermalogica and Hourglass

#TTBFaves: Every month, the ThisThatBeauty Girls share their favorite beauty products from the previous month. Today I share my top picks from June…

Estee Lauder Modern Muse FragranceEstee Lauder Modern Muse

Why I love it: Just as with makeup, I seek out fragrances that are great to wear any season. It’s nice to have specific scents for certain times of the year, but I love having a fragrance that is timeless. Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse is this scent – timeless and classic.

Who It Might Work for and Why: This is Estee Lauder’s first fragrance launch since Beyond Paradise, released in 2003, which alone is reason enough to be excited. They describe a Modern Muse as a independent and self-confident woman, sure of herself and her style, and this is most definitely apparent in the notes. Sparkling jasmine is the first note to hit you, followed by mandarin, fresh lily and honeysuckle, and then drying down to reveal notes of patchouli, vanilla and amber musk. Those who enjoy a sweet, floral scent will find this a permanent staple in their fragrance wardrobe.

Bottom Line: For those of you looking for a new fresh scent, Modern Muse is the perfect fragrance to add to your collection.

Dermalogica oil free matte SPF 30Dermalogica Oil Free Matte SPF 30

Why I love it: Here at TTB, we take skincare very seriously, and when something makes it way to a “favorite” post, we mean business. This daily moisturizer was a recent find, and has been in my morning regimen ever since.

Who it might work for and why: As the name implies, this moisturizer is perfect for those with oily skin, or frankly anyone in the summer who suffers from shine. It leaves the skin damp when first applied but dries to a natural matte finish. While it may be oil free, it also does a great job of hydrating the skin and keeping it refreshed all day. I typically wear it under makeup and it wears beautifully, addressing any stubborn dry patches I may have (stupid hormonal skin) and acting as a great base to apply foundation.

Bottom Line: Though it is ideally targeted towards oily-skinned individuals, I think that this daily lotion would be suitable for most skin types to wear. With the added bonus of the high SPF, you can be sure it will keep your skin looking great while also protecting it from the sun.

Available for $48.00 on Dermstore.com.

Hourglass-Arch-Sculpting-Brow-PencilHourglass Brow Sculpting Pencil

Why I love it: I know what you may be thinking – an eyebrow pencil as a monthly fave? And I would respond with an enthusiastic – YES! The ease of this pencil is what makes it a monthly favorite – it has made filling in my eyebrows the part of my morning makeup routine that I actually look forward to.

Who it might work for and why: ANYONE WITH EYEBROWS! I have used many eyebrow products – pencils, gels, powders and I thought I was doing just fine. That was until I tried the Hourglass eyebrow pencil – and then realized I had been missing out. The texture of the pencil is what got me first – it is a waxy texture that goes on smoothly and evenly – making filling in easier than ever. The second feature that I loved was the angled shape of the pencil. It allows me to effortlessly follow the line of my brows without any need for concealer correction, and the brush on the other end of the pencil is great at smoothing out the color to make it look natural. As if these two features weren’t enough to lure me in, the color is the perfect shade for my dark hair. And having tried this for the first time during the summer months, I can attest to this product’s ability to withstand sweat and heat – two of makeup’s biggest enemies.

Bottom Line: Though the color range is limited (only 3 shades available), I have spoken to a few different people with varying hair colors, and all seem to find a shade to match their brows. If there is one brow product to invest in, I would make it this.

Available for $32.00 at Sephora.com.
