TTB Reviews: TATCHA Skincare

I have always been an intense makeup lover – collecting eye shadows and lipsticks for as far back as I can remember, but my love for skincare was always just lukewarm.   That is until I began blogging and specifically – blogging here at ThisThatBeauty.   Skincare is a strong message on this blog, and emphasizes how the basics of any great makeup look can only be as good as the skin that is underneath.   In no time, I became a skincare junkie and my skin has never looked better.   One of my most recent and beloved skincare discoveries, TATCHA skincare, has heritage steeped in the ancient beauty secrets of the Japanese geisha.   And after what can only be described as sheer amazement at the results, I felt I had to share it with ThisThatBeauty readers.

The founder, Victoria Tsai, in her search for a new approach to beauty, traveled to Asia where a chance encounter with a modern day geisha inspired her to learn more about their ancient beauty rituals that gave them their flawless, porcelain skin.   Shortly after, the TATCHA brand was born.   “TATCHA recreates the geisha’s minimalist beauty regime with fresh preparations of concentrated bio-active materials, accessing their active ingredients through a proprietary extraction process of green tea, Okinawa red algae and rice bran”.

My favorite product, and the lines cult classic, is the Deep Rice Enzyme Powder, which is a water activated enzyme powder designed to exfoliate without harsh abrasives.   What struck me instantly when using this product was how finely milled and delicate the powder was butalso  how effective it was at giving my skin an amazing exfoliation and deep cleanse.   My skin instantly glowed and felt smoother.  The Camellia Cleansing Oil impressed me immensely with how thorough it was at melting away my makeup and leaving my skin feeling clean but not stripped or tight.     These two products have found a forever home in my skincare regimen.

Following my new favorite cleansing ritual, I applied the Deep Brightening Serum designed to help hydrate the skin while making it appear more luminous.   No truer words could have ever been uttered.   After just a week stubborn, dry patches left behind by this sub-zero weather were gone, and my skin seemed healthier and more balanced. Perfect for all skin types, even sensitive, this is a perfect addition to any skincare routine.   As if the previous three products mentioned didn’t already sell you on this great brand, the Moisture Rich Silk Cream that I applied after the serum each night was one for the record books. The unique gel-cream texture is what instantly appealed to me, but what sealed the deal was  how it dissolved into the skin immediately leaving simply a smooth and soft feeling complexion without any dreaded residue or tackiness.   Designed for normal/combination to oily skin, this cream is worth the splurge.

All products range in price from $48 – $150 and are sold exclusively at Barneys, Barneys.com and their website Tatcha.com.
