Meaningful beauty

I thoroughly enjoyed my 30 days with Cindy Crawford Meaningful Beauty. I’m a beauty girl at heart, however, everyone knows that skin care is my core. Over time my tastes have evolved from Noxema, to Clean and Clear, to Clinique and to super luxe brands like ReVive and La Prairie. And while I pretty much have access to some of the best skincare on planet earth, I recognize that most women have limitations based on budget , accessibility, et cetera. This is why brands like Meaningful Beauty are so important. The line offers serious skin care solutions at an affordable and accessible price point. From the cleansers to treatment products and everything in between, at $39.95, the Meaningful Beauty Anti-Aging Systems are priced to reached the masses.

Throughout my 30 days of trying Meaningful Beauty, the one product that stood out for me was the Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15. You may be thinking, ” but Felicia, you’re not 80.” The biggest mistake I see women make every day is not using skincare until they feel they actually NEED it. This means seeking an eye cream once you already have lines, wrinkles, bags and darkness. My position has always been to be proactive, this is why the Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15 appeals to me.

While I, and most of my readers, already understand the importance of properly cleansing, toning, moisturizing and treating the skin, most of us forget about the neck and décolleté. Meaningful Beauty’s creme is formulated to treat, protect and brighten the neck area. Pregnancy, birth control pills and just plain old aging skin can cause the neck to appear dark, saggy and slack — and generally, just not seem as youthful. The Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15 not only visibly brightened my neck, my skin also feels more taut and looks so glowy! Believe it or not, people have been paying compliments and noticing my neck in dresses, and of course — while posing on Instagram. I have Cindy Crawford Meaningful Beauty to thank.

It’s week three of my 30-day Meaningful Beauty experience and so far so good. At the four-week mark, I share my complete thoughts on a few of the products I’m using. Today I want to bring you up to speed on my “Meaningful Activities”. [Click here for a refresher on my exciting 30-day Meaningful Beauty project] [Click here for a refresher on my previous “Meaningful Activity”]

Nobody likes turkey neck and maybe that is the reason the Meaningful Beauty Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15 is emerging as a winner for me so far. Similar to the eyes, I feel the neck is an area that we don’t realize we need to treat until it’s too late. I always say, once the deep wrinkles set in, there’s very little a cream or serum can do (time for snip snip). So in an effort to avoid nips, snips, and tucks for as long as humanly possible, I am majorly into preventative skin care. Meaningful Beauty Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15 fits right into my plan to stay forever young!

In keeping with Cindy Crawford’s commitment to “Meaningful Activities”, I decided to treat the ladies of ThisThatBeauty to a bit of holiday fun. There are currently five members  of the TTB Team, moi, Christene, Maree, Cathy and Brandalyn. Our team was reduced to three when duty called and Cathy and Bradalyn were unable to join us. Maree, Christene and I were bummed about the reduced party size but we were determined to celebrate for all. Our shenanigans took us to Del Posto restaurant where we enjoyed a variety of small bites, champagne and wine.

Maree is new to Team TTB, but she already feels like family. You know, like that plucky, fun-loving cousin you look forward to seeing every holiday. She also packs a whole lotta sass into her petite, always perfectly primped frame. She’s alright with me!

Christene really runs the show! She’s TTB’s Associate Editor and does a great deal to keep this craft afloat. . . .from managing the editorial calendar, to covering events, to all the techy stuff that I will never fully understand, and way more than I can rattle off here. . . she really is a God send.

Cheers to the team ThisThatBeauty!

Join me next week as I share my final results and give five lucky TTB readers a chance to win Meaningful Beauty kit.

It’s week two of my 30-day Meaningful Beauty experience and so far so good. While I will reserve a full product review for the four-week mark, I absolutely want to share my initial thoughts on a few of the products I’m using. . . and bring you up to speed on my “Meaningful Activities”. [Click here for a refresher on my exciting 30-day Meaningful Beauty project]

The most important step of my skin care routine is sunscreen. As many of you know, it’s my beauty nonnegotiable. So naturally, like a moth to a flame, I am drawn to Meaningful Beauty Antioxidant Day Crème SPF 20 UVA/UVB and Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15. Both are extremely rich and creamy…which is perfect for this time of year. My face and neck feel hydrated and prepped for the elements, without feeling weighed down. While I can’t quite speak to results just yet, I can say that I really appreciate how nourished my face and neck feel immediately after application. And I have no adverse reactions to speak of — this is a major coup as my acne prone skin tends to “show off” if a product is not acneic-skin friendly. Luckily, Meaningful Beauty is playing nice, nice.

Cindy Crawford

I’m following in Cindy Crawford’s footsteps for 30-days, I am using Meaningful Beauty as well as engaging in meaningful activities. Per Cindy, this is the way to a truly fulfilling life. (No arguments there!)

So for Meaningful Activity #1, I decided to have a long overdue dinner with a dear friend. We were high-school buds and have managed to reconnect through our love of beauty, fashion, and the arts. My friend is a film maker — a rather talented one at that.

She’s one of those rare self-assured creatures who knew her path in life from a very early age. You see, we both attended a performing arts high school. And while I was bounced from disillusions of being either an actress or a playwright or whatever, my dear friend, Nefertite Nguvu, knew very early on that she wanted to be a film maker. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. I have always admired her determination and direction.

So, back to my meaningful activity with Nef. She’s been hard at work on making her current project, In The Morning, a big screen success. She’s invested untold hours and personal finances into bringing this film to fruition. She’s worked tirelessly to write, cast, fund-raise, direct, etc, etc. And just recently, Nef submitted In The Morning to Sundance. Phew! Girlfriend, really deserved a break. So, I decided it was high time we had dinner.

We dined at the cutest little Italian cafe, Lugo Caffé. Over dinner we toasted Nef’s success. She’s deeply dedicated to quality movie making and I applaud her.

It’s so important that we take the time to support and encourage our friends. Especially our fiercely independent friends who march to the beat of an equally independent drum. It’s not an easy walk. It takes vision, unshakable courage and conviction. Bravo, Nef, Bravo!

Stay tuned as I share more meaningful activities over the next few weeks.

About In The Morning:  In The Morning is about love and its inevitable change/decline.  It charts the emotional anatomy of several relationships over the course of one day.  Permutations of passion, sorrow, joy and brutal honesty fuel the lives of a group of inter-connected New Yorkers.  Friends: Harper, Ravi, Fez, Bly and Amara, gather to bid farewell to one of their own moving abroad, and debate the compromise and loss of their youthful ideals about marriage, fidelity, life and love.  Two lovers: Malik and Cadence, meet to ceremoniously end a whirlwind romance that has collapsed under the weight of fears, obligations and regrets.  A couple: Zuri and Leal, sift through the remains of their broken relationship as they try to make a life altering decision, journeying through the bitter heartbreak that comes with faded love, disintegrated trust, and dreams abandoned.  For everyone, life will be indelibly altered in the morning.

Simply stated, In The Morning is about love and transitions.  It examines the complexities of love from the perspective of three women in the midst of some hard won self-transformation.  It’s a mood piece that weaves together three stories about personal growth and the power of choice and action.

Meaningful Beauty

When it comes to new beauty, you know me — game on! I mean. . . is my blog’s tagline not, “Benefit from my Obsession?” I joyfully and tirelessly sift through pretty packaging and lofty claims, all to uncover the best new beauty that you truly need to know.

Over the years I’ve blogged about my obsession with beauty infomercials. If I flip through the channels and come across one – it’s on! I seriously have a thing for these scripted 30-minute programs that are designed to pique, capture, and hold your interest…and then ultimately compel you to buy! Maybe it’s the beauty girl in me or maybe it’s because I secretly long for a career as a shopping network host (true story!). . . but whatever the reason, I recently found myself mesmerized by Meaningful Beauty by Cindy Crawford.

Meaningful Beauty Crème de Sérum: “Crème de la crème treatment takes a triple approach to combating the signs of aging with three powerful anti-aging ingredients: superantioxidant melon complex, anti-aging peptides and hyaluronic acid. “

For starters, clearly Cindy Crawford knows a thing or two about aging gracefully. She’s gorgeous! And not in the my-forefead-no-longer-moves sort of way. She really appears to take good care of her skin. My theory is that lots of preventative treatment in her 20’s has a great deal to do with the incredible skin she’s enjoying in her 40’s. Oh, so that’s where Meaningful Beauty comes in — it’s Cindy’s breakthrough secret for younger looking skin. Developed with Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh, Anti-Aging Specialist, Meaningful Beauty is a comprehensive a skin care system that’s designed to moisturize, protect, hydrate, and rejuvenate. The formula lynchpin? A super anti-oxidant derived from a rare melon found in the South of France. What’s so incredible about this particular melon, you ask? Well, apparently, it decays at a much slower rate than traditional melon. Hmm. . .

Meaningful Beauty Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15
Firming Chest & Neck Crème: “Helps to firm, smooth and revitalize the often neglected chest and neck area. This new, advanced formula includes a skin brightening complex designed to diminish the appearance of age spots and SPF 15 to help protect skin against future damage.”

Well color me intrigued! For the next 30-days I’m going to give Meaningful Beauty a whirl. So follow along as I delve into the line and put the claims to the test. The complete line includes (I have placed an asterisk next to the products that I’m jonesing to try):

Skin Softening Cleanser

Antioxidant Day Crème SPF 20 UVA/UVB*

Crème de Sérum

Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15 *

Lifting Eye Crème–Advanced Formula*

Glowing Serum

Wrinkle Smoothing Capsules – Advanced Formula

Also for 30-days, to truly mimic the life of Cindy Crawford, who believes that “living a healthy life and staying young and beautiful is half about your skincare/beauty regimen and half about how you actually live your life.” (Amen, sister!), I’ll be engaging in lots of “meaningful” activities and tagging them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) as #CindyCrawfordYoung and @MeaningfulBty. My meaningful activities might include dinner with a dear friend in need of a break, volunteering down the shore post-Sandy, or treating my mom to a mani/pedi. You’ll just have to follow along to see!

So let’s go. Here’s to the next 30-days with Meaningful Beauty! Will I emerge a dead-wringer for Cindy Crawford? Probably not, but hey – a girl can dream. Will I emerge with improved skin? Well, I certainly hope so.
