Gilded Lids. Glimmering Golds. Metal Eyes. Must-have Metallics. You’ve heard it all before. While striking in theory and positively stunning on the runway, for many women, the reality of shimmer on lids is downright scary. . . Sure, it’s a dazzling little look that we love to see on our favorite starlets, but for some reason — we shudder at the thought of glitz & twinkle on our eyes.

With the help of  Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes [brand NEW for Spring!!], a Sharpie, and a sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper, we help you navigate the season’s metallic craze.

ThisThatBeauty Contributor Jennifer L. investigates Smashbox Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss. Read on for Jen’s two cents …and follow her beauty babble via @plushpinkallure

A trusty pink lip gloss is timeless and classic, but one in particular may actually be extraordinary… Smashbox Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss SPF 15 in “Infinite” is eternal perfection. Upon application, my lips felt transformed. For those who admire that Jennifer Lopez look (you know,  that innate superstar glow)…well Smashbox shares that admiration and delivers. “Infinite” is a plush pink shade with gold undertones. The gloss glides on with ease…I attribute this to the uniquely slanted wand. It lasts long after application, and doesn’t wear off easily.  It comes in a range of 10 playful but delicate shades that illuminate a variety of skin tones.  You will look stunning, yet feel effortlessly put together.  Composed of vitamins A, C, and E, sea kale, and SPF 15, Smashbox Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss SPF 15   leaves lips soft and supple without residual stickiness.  Priced at $22.00, it is wearable for any girl, anytime, anywhere… for all eternity.

ThisThatBeauty Contributor Jennifer L. investigates Dalton Colour Crème Lip Gloss. Read on for Jen’s two cents …and follow her beauty babble via @plushpinkallure

***

Secretly pining for a luscious Angelina Jolie pout? Well pine no more!

Dalton Colour Crème Lip Gloss (in four dreamy shades) gives us thin-lipped gals hope. These glosses are designed to plump and rejuvenate. A combination of vitamins E and A, collagen tri peptides, and hyaluronic spheres form a delicate treatment that moisturizes and aids the production of collagen. My favorite part? This isn’t just another moisturizing lip gloss — it plumps your kisser to the MAX! The creamy texture coats lips to fill in contours gives lips a full pout without the uncomfortable tingling sensation commonly associated with traditional plumpers. Soft, kissable lips reinforce our femininity and keep the boys drooling.

“Lisa Lou” is a soft pink and is ideal for that innocent “kiss me” moment with your special someone. Pucker up girls… and enjoy those Angelina lips!

From simple to sultry to playful, COVERGIRL painted plenty of pretty faces at last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, and here’s your rundown of products to get the look:

Julia Stiles by Celebrity Makeup Artist Jake Bailey

I was really inspired by her gorgeous flowing dress so we wanted the beauty look to work with the effortless, “rich hippie” look.
I wanted her skin to be flawless, but dewy so I used COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation, buffing it on to the skin with a flat-topped brush. I love this foundation because it gives great coverage, but still looks like skin. I brushed a bronzer with a hint of shimmer on her cheeks and along the hairline for a natural glow and finished her skin with a shimmery coral blush on the apples of her cheeks.
We wanted to create a dramatic smoky eye so I first lined the inner rim and lashline with COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast in Black Fire and then smudged it upwards. I used COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast in Purple Plume along the lid and up towards the brow bone. The Aubergine shade complimented the color of the dress and works really well on brown eyes. I finished her eyes with dramatic lashes using false lashes and then applying COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion.

I finished her beauty look with a nude lip to emphasize the eyes. I lined the lips with COVERGIRL Lip Perfection in Smoky and then filled in the lips with COVERGIRL Lip Perfection in Delish.

Christina Hendricks by Celebrity Makeup Artist Vanessa Scali

Christina was inspired by Brigitte Bardot’s black smoky eyes and nude face. So, we went in this direction but softened the look for the red carpet by using a creamy, shimmery shadow in gunmetal.  This gives the eye shadow a transparent quality that makes the look very strong but also very modern. I am always sparing with foundation but especially with Christina’s nearly flawless skin.  I used NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Alabaster, which was perfect for fresh, lightweight coverage.  For a hint of color, I used Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach on the apples of the cheeks, looking polished and fresh. For Christina’s timeless smoky eye, I used Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke on the lid from just above the crease down to the lash line.  I swept out past the natural lash line at the outer corners of the eye to exaggerate the eye size and add a touch of red carpet drama. Also, to define the lash line, I used LiquiLine Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire.  This pencil defines the eye by leaving intense color at the lash line but is very blendable for a soft look at the edges.  Never leave home without lush and lengthy lashes, I used LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Very Black to create just that. Strong eyes look great paired with clean, uncomplicated skin.  Keep it fresh by powdering in the T-zone only, using Clean Pressed Powder, Sensitive Skin in Ivory. Finally, to complement the smoky eye, I wanted to use brown undertones, so I chose Lip Perfection Lipstick in Kiss, perfect for red carpet glam!

Julie Bowen by Celebrity Makeup artist Heather Currie

Julie’s outfit was everything tonight! We wanted to create a beauty look that reflected its classic and elegant, yet sexy style. We decided to go with a flush cheek and a sheer color on the lips, something modern and beautiful but not overpowering.
We wanted her skin to be luminous and glowing so I used COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation for a luxurious flawless finish. Then, I used COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry for just a hint of bright, bold color that provided that flushed look we were going for.
For her eyes, I used COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast in Brown Blaze, which I smudged along the lash line before applying eyeshadow for a more striking look. I finished off the eyes with COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion in Black.

For her lips, we didn’t want anything too heavy, just sheer color with a glossy touch, so COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Peony was perfect. To bring out more of that sheer color for her red carpet moment, I lined the lips with COVERGIRL Lip Perfection Lip Liner in Radiant.

Kyra Sedgwick by Celebrity Makeup Artist Robin Siegel

Inspired by Kyra’s vintage Thierry Mugler dress, Robin created a sexy smoky eye with soft rose lips and radiant skin.  This look perfectly complemented her Cartier earrings, bracelet watch and Chris McMillan’s hairstyle of rock-n-roll waves.

On Kyra’s eyes, Robin applied Chanel Regard Perle Eyeshadow across the lids, and then used COVERGIRL LiquilineBlast in Silver Spark across the lash line, which gave her a smoky, liquid liner look. For the lashes, Robin created a full fan of long lashes with COVERGIRL LashBlast Length Mascara in Black.

On the skin, Robin created a radiant, flawless look with COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Foundation. Then, added a rosy glow with COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Lush Berry and set the look with Chanel Rose Merveille Powder.

To complement the sexy eyes and rocking curls, Robin created a glossy, polished lip with COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Sandstone.

Amber Riley by Celebrity Makeup Artist Mylah Morales

Inspired by Amber’s super chic hair and gorgeous Anne Barge dress, Mylah created a bold look focused on Amber’s fuchsia lips.

To start, Mylah focused on proper skin care by prepping the skin with Black Up primer for a look that lasts all evening. On the skin, Mylah created a coral glow, first with COVERGIRL Queen Collection Compact Foundation and building a natural flush with a coral blush and COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer. Mylah kept Amber’s eyes natural but defined with COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast in Black Fire and LashBLast Volume Mascara. A neutral shadow palette created depth and definition. The look was completed with a stand-out lip. Mylah used COVERGIRL Lip Perfection in Embrace, which Amber brought with her to the awards.

Many many products to review. One Felicia to do all of the writing. While my heart wants to review every single product I spy, my partially manicured hands simply cannot type that fast. Having said that, I have taken the initiative to bring on a contributing writer. This was a really hard decision. ThisThatBeauty is my first born so its hard to relinquish control. But I think I’ve found an awesome guest writer that I am sure you will love.

I have decided to go with someone whom I feel offers a young/fresh approach to makeup. While she’s pretty much a beauty blogging newbie, let’s just say that her love for all things beauty is in the “genes”.

Without further ado, I give you ThisThatBeauty’s Guest Blogger –
My niece, Greysen Glenn :)

Before Greysen Glenn’s entry into the beauty world, she dedicated most of her time to recreational activities like:

Swinging

and eating her toes

During a recent visit with Auntie F (that’s me) I discovered Greysen Glenn’s panache for makeup. So I quickly recruited this young bella to write for TTB. Please check out Greysen Glenn’s review of:

Given Greysen Glenn’s limited vocabulary, lets go with The Body Shop’s product description:

Give your lips a natural sheen while conditioning them with an everyday gloss that can be worn alone or over Lip Color. Moisturizing Community Trade marula oil from Namibia leaves lips soft and supple. Passion fruit fragrance adds a refreshingly juicy scent.

Again, given Greysen’s limited vocabulary, I am walking her through her first product review:

Auntie F: Greysen Glenn, show my ThisThatBeauty readers how the product looks up close.

Auntie F: OK, now put a little on and show my readers how the color looks against your complexion

Auntie F: OK, now turn the product towards the camera. Let Auntie help you.

Auntie F: OK, now show my readers the best application method for this product. Should they use a lip brush?…
Greysen Glenn: No. Fingers:)

Auntie F: OK, lets get one more shot of you and the product.
Greysen Glenn: OK…like this?

Auntie F: Perfect! How about one more picture?
Greysen Glenn: No! No more paparazzi!

Auntie F: Jeez, OK kiddo. Thank you for your review of The Body Shop Lip Gloss Dot:)

So what did you guys think of my Guest Beauty Blogger? I think she has a bright beauty future ahead of her.

Thank you Greysen! You’re welcome to write for Auntie F anytime…so long as I can keep paying you in ice cream:)

For Today’s installment of ThisThatBeauty Pops Lip: Lip Colour du Jour, I am featuring: Kissable Couture – Lady Love
Lady Love is a gorgeous splash of sheer pink shimmer. I love Lady Love;)

What do you guys think?

Felicia

PS: And just so no one goes on a wild goose chase, I must disclose that Lady Love is not available in stores until August.  However, you may pre-order TODAY. Yes, TODAY. What are you waiting for??? :)

I recently wrote about Lipstick Queen’s latest launch, Chinatown.

If you’ve yet to cop these amazing little gloss sticks, I must ask…What are you waiting for? The shade CRIME is my personal fav!

If you need further encouragement, check out my recent discovery. Chinatown gloss sticks are great mutlitaskers. Just the other day, while pressed for time, I used CRIME on my lips and cheeks. CRIME not only deposits a pretty pink gloss to the lips, it also adds a very lovely sheer flush to the cheeks. This look is soft and perfect for summer!
LQ is available at lipstickqueen.com, Wonderland Beauty Parlor, and select boutiques world wide.
