What makes a product obsession-worthy? A few things….but “new”, “innovative” and “never-seen-before” certainly top the list. So why am I obsessing over Lancome Miracle Cushion? The concept is neither new nor innovative (Korean beauty did it first)…and I’ve seen lots of cushion compacts over the years. But here’s the kicker — Lancome Miracle Cushion is the first of its kind that’s available in a diverse range of shades from fair to deep. Prior to now, most cushion compacts have catered to fair to light skin tones. But, Lancome Miracle Cushion breaks the mold in offering eleven global shades.

I love reading blogger monthly favorites almost as much as I enjoy compiling them. It highlights the best and most loved products and that is saying a lot because bloggers get to try A LOT of products. I even include products in my monthly favorites that I’ve been using for quite some time but just feel the need to speak about again. That is the case for this month – all of these products I’ve chosen are ones that I’ve been using for a few months but can’t stop talking about. So without any further ado, let me rave about them some more.

 La Prairie Foam Cleanser

La prairie foam cleanser

Why I Love It: It gives a thorough deep cleanse while still managing to nourish and hydrate the skin.

Who It Might Work For and Why: Anyone looking for a foam cleanser that will not dry out their skin. I typically shy away from foam cleansers because of their propensity to strip my skin of its natural oils thus making my skin overcompensate by producing more oil. This cleanser not only cleansed and soothed my skin, it helped to balance it as well.

Bottom Line: This cleanser is a bit of a splurge, but with results as good as these, it’s worth every penny.

Available at Saks for $80.00.

 Shiseido Future Solution LX Foundation

Shiseido Future LX Solution FoundationWhy I Love It: It’s a foundation infused with skincare ingredients to help retexturize, lift and brighten the skin.

Who It Might Work For and Why: This is a great formula for anyone who wants to receive skincare benefits from their daily makeup. Though it has ingredients targeted for anti-aging, the formula is so smooth and flawless that it would work for any age. Once I apply it, I find that the foundation looks so invisible as if it’s fused with my skin.

Bottom Line: There is a limited shade range unfortunately, but if you can find a shade that works for your skin tone, I highly recommend giving this a try. Your skin will thank me.

Available at Nordstrom for $85.00.

Lorac Unzipped Palette

Lorac Unzipped PaletteWhy I Love It: It’s a gorgeous rosy-hued palette that mixes  both shimmer and matte shades.

Who It Might Work For and Why: Those that prefer a warmer, bronzy look would absolutely love this eye shadow palette. The colors all work beautifully together and are a mix of everyday neutrals that can create the perfect look for day or night. Though a majority of the shades have shimmer, it’s a wearable shimmer that would be suitable for most occasions. The darker shades are matte which make them perfect for lining the eye or transforming a day look to night.

Bottom Line:  This is an eye shadow palette that would work for any skin tone and for almost any occasion.

Available at here for $40.00.

While I hate to admit it — blemishes happen. True story! Currently, they seem to ‘happen‘ mostly on my chin. . . my wretched, rude, hormonal chin. No matter how hard I try, the occasional zit is bound to pop up on my chin. Obviously, covering the little stinker is a given — all the world need not witness my struggle. But, what about healing as well as concealing the zit? That’s where CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer comes in. . .

CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer

If you’re keeping track of my CoverFX product reviews and Twitter chats over the last year (and I know you are:)) you know that CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer is the fourth product to launch in the brand’s Banish Blemish Line — proof that CoverFX takes clear skin seriously! The entire Banish Blemish line includes BB Gel Mattifying Anti-Blemish Treatment, Blemish Treatment Primer, Blemish Primer Brush and now – CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer.

  1. CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer has 1% Salicylic acid for attacking blemishes/breakouts
  2. Bakuchiol (Babchi Seed Extract) increases cell renewal, producing Retinoid-like results without irritation or sun sensitivity
  3. Dermaxyl and Oligopeptide help repair skin and reduce scarring caused by blemishes.
  4. Hytosphingosine, a natural occurring lipid found in the skin, plus Bisabolol, a chamomile-derived anti-inflammatory, help reduce redness and soothe inflammation.
  5. 30% pigment load for full coverage.
  6. Not recommended for use around the eyes (because of the 1% Salicylic acid).
  7. Clinically tested.
  8. Vegan.
  9. Free of the Inflammatory 5: Paraben-free, Fragrance-free, Gluten-free, Mineral Oil-free and Talc-free.

Zits suck! And while covering up is crucial, it’s also important to treat and heal the skin properly to limit the appearance of post pimple scarring. The 1% dose of Salicylic acid is perfect…skin is calmed without any irritation. I love that CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer offers full coverage…I honestly hate sheer coverage — well let me rephrase that — When it comes to covering blemishes, nobod’y got time for cutesy, sheer build-able coverage. You want a concealer that can hide your indiscretion with a single tap. CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer delivers full on coverage with just a single swipe of the convenient little stick….speaking of “little stick” — the size of CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer scores major points in my book because it’s so tiny and discreet. It’s like an itsy bitsy little a secret weapon that banishes blemishes in a nano second. I generally apply directly to the affected area and blend/ pat with my finger tip. But the Concealer Brush works really well for targeted application.  For all day complexion perfection I recommend starting with CoverFX Blemish Treatment Primer and then CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer. Finally, set everything it with CoverFX Matte Setting Powder. And, voila!

Check out my video below as I demonstrate how I apply  CoverFX Blemish Treatment Concealer:

I may change up my look every day, but there are 5 products that are the cornerstone to my makeup routine. I use some form of each of these daily, and without them I feel incomplete. To be honest, I would rather go without makeup entirely than skip one of these  five products.

smashbox cc creamYes I choose foundation over concealer. I can often build up my foundation by stippling it on areas that need more coverage, or sheer it out with a light application. Either way – I need my base! I regularly circulate my old stand-bys with new ones I’m testing, and each season it may look a bit different depending on the weather. But I can assure you, my face is fully covered from ear to ear and forehead to jaw – I love a full face. Right now, I am circulating my Smashbox CC Cream, Guerlain Lingerie de Peau and By Terry Cover Expert.

Cheek Color

Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer LightMediumI initially wrote blush for this next one, but truthfully any cheek color will do. Bronzer, blush, cream or powder, my cheeks need a natural flush. When I worked behind the counter many moons ago, I found that this is the one product most of my clients wanted to skip. Not me! A radiant cheek can brighten up a face quicker than a lip or eye color. For the summer I love my Too Faced Milk Chocolate Matte Bronzer in Light/Medium, Dolce & Gabbana’s blush in Rosebud or Shiseido’s Face Color Enhancing Trio in Peach.

Armani Eyes to Kill MascaraDuh, of course I need mascara. How the heck am I supposed to look awake if my lashes are not defined? I prefer thick, voluminous, jet-black formulas because they can really accentuate my eyes without needing eye liner or shadow. I try tons of different mascaras but  holy grails are Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Volume Mascara and the Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara.

Brow Pencil

Anastasia Brow WizI will always choose brows over eye shadow because they frame my entire face and give it dimension. And even with a soft, natural look, I still need a slight definition or else my eyes look lost on my face. There is truly only two pencils I trust to get the job done – the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette and the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown.

I may throw a lip gloss on if I have nothing else, but majority of the time I reach for lipstick. Bold, bright, neutral or natural, I live for a lip color to complete my look. Often I wear my reds and vibrant pinks with a minimal face because I feel it allows the lip to take center stage. For the summer, I like to alternate between a spicy red orange such as Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven and a “my lip color but better” shade like Aerin Rose Balm Lipstick in Pretty.

It’s summer and hot as the dickens out, so this month it’s all about warm weather favorites. Sunscreen that doesn’t feel too heavy, foundation that won’t smother my skin and a loose powder that will make all my oily skin dreams come true. Here is a look at my favorite products from this past month:

By Terry Hyaluronic Powder

By Terry Hyaluronic Powder

Why I love It: It is by far the most mattifying loose powder I’ve ever tried. It lasts all day, does not oxidize and makes my skin look flawless.

Who it Might Work For and Why:  Absolutely anyone. Since it has hyaluronic acid, it is suitable for dry skin types, but because of it’s intense ability to mattify it is also perfect for oily skin. Apply in the morning by pressing it into the skin with a powder puff and then you are set for the entire day.

Bottom line: This has already made it onto my holy grail product list in just one month. That is really all you need to know.

Available at Space NK for $60.00.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Sheer Mineral Sun Spray

Dr. Dennis Gross Sheer Mineral Sun Spray

Why I love It: A lightweight sunscreen that applies as a spray, absorbs instantly into the skin and feels like a lightweight body lotion.

Who it Might Work For and Why:  Those looking for a high level SPF sunscreen that can be worn both at the beach and during daily activities.  If you neglect sunscreen because of the uncomfortable texture and way it makes your skin feel, this is a perfect solution.

Bottom line: It blends the hydrating feel of a lotion with the skin protection of a sunscreen.

Available at Sephora for $42.00.

Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation

Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation

Why I love It: Though I love a full face of makeup, it can be difficult to deal with that much makeup when the temperature reaches in the 90’s. I have been wearing Perricone MD’s No Foundation Foundation because it helps to even out my skin tone without adding any extra weight on my face.

Who it Might Work For and Why:  This is perfect for anyone that needs a lightweight summer foundation or hates wearing makeup. It feels like second skin when applied and is virtually undetectable on the skin. The only downside of this foundation is it comes in two shades which can be very limiting, so hopefully they extend it further in the future.

Bottom line: Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation is a lightweight formula that’s gives you the look of a foundation with the benefits of quality skincare.

Available at Sephora for $55.00.

I’m not sure why, but I’m never not excited to try new foundation. Now I’m not saying I’m always pleased with the results, but I’m always super geeked to try something new. And this doesn’t mean that I’m still searching for my perfect foundation, because I have several holy grails — but foundation is like the be-all-end-all of makeup. It’s the first step (after skin care) to a really beautiful canvas. So if there’s a new foundation to try — Momma is on it!!

Here are a few that have me absolutely smitten at the moment:

BUXOM Show Some Skin Weightless Foundation

Buxom Show Some Skin Foundation Review

This foundation could not be more appropriately named. It feels like a lightweight BB cream but gives the sheer to medium, buildable coverage of a foundation. My shades are Caramel Kisses and Into The Dark. My skin is oily and this formula holds up darn good. I love that it really, truly looks like skin. Side note: I wear the two darkest shades, so I would love to see more range from this brand in the future.

I am perfectly comfortable admitting that this powder foundation seemed totally “meh” in the case and my expectations were super low. But holy moly — this one won me over! The match is perfect and the coverage is beyond natural. When I pair COVERGIRL READY SET GORGEOUS PRESSED POWDER FOUNDATION  with my beloved NARS radiant creamy concealer (for under eye) I am, as the kids say, ‘flawless’. This one’s fantastic if you prefer powder. Side note: I wear the darkest shade, so I would love to see more range from this brand in the future.

3 New Foundations to Try Right Now

Ohhh, now momma loves a good stick beauty product so NUDE STIX had me at hello. Makeup sticks are perfect for girls who want beauty made simple, so this pairing of convenience and barely-there, nude-inspired beauty is right up my alley. While NUDE STIX offers sticks for face, eyes and lips — their hero, in my opinion, is the Concealer Pencil. With a few quick warrior stripes (across cheeks, chin and forehead) of Deep 7 and Deep 8 my skin has a soft, matte, sheer to medium coverage that looks polished, yet not overdone. For pesky dark spots (ugh, the one on my chin right now?!!) I just do an extra dab. I adore the packaging of these sweet little sticks…they’re so lightweight — you can carry your fave face, lip, cheek and eye pencils without weighing down your purse. Score! Side note: For all day coverage, I recommend a setting powder.

The official start of summer is upon us. It seems like mere minutes ago we all had the collective shivers because winter just would not end. Summer brings much needed warmth but it also brings humidity that is sometimes stifling. Heat, humidity and makeup don’t go well together, so, I’m on a quest to find all the products that are formulated to survive the dreaded summer heat and humidity. This week I’m trying the BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Créme.

BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Créme

BECCA’s new Ultimate Coverage Complexion Créme

A full-coverage foundation that is made with high concentrations of pigment and water. More pigments means a little goes a long way and during hot summer months we want to use as little product as possible. According to BECCA, the foundation is clinically proven to provide 24 hour coverage that is water and transfer resistant.

BECCA Foundation - CNC 1
BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme in Tobacco and Sienna

I used two shades, Tobacco and Sienna. After moisturizing and adding sunscreen, I applied Tobacco to the inside areas of my face and Sienna on the outside. I can sometimes be a whole shade darker by the end of summer so starting off with two shades to mix and match as my complexion changes is never a bad thing. The Ultimate Coverage Complexion Créme is truly ultimate. Using a foundation brush, about a pea size amount was enough to cover the inside areas of my face. I then blended in about a half a pea size amount of Sienna to the outer areas. This was enough to give me full coverage and I have spots to cover. I set it with a translucent powder. It wore exceptionally well for more than 8 hours with minimal oil breakthrough, even on my oily skin.

MAC Maleficent True Love's First Kiss
BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme in Tobacco and Sienna and products from here.

I took the BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme on a test drive to Florida and it held up equally well with just a bit more oil coming to the surface. I used blotting paper (and Starbucks napkins) to blot down excess oil and I was good to go.  While there was some transfer, it was minimal and is to be expected because of the oiliness of my skin. Overall, this is a solid foundation that can definitely be worn during the hot and humid summer months…and beyond.  It is available in 20 shades, from Porcelain to Cocoa and retails for $44.

I love having oily skin because it will (hopefully) keep me looking young for many years to come, however, having oily skin means that my nice morning glow will turn into a not-so-nice oil slick by the end of the day.  Because my skin is so oily, I am forever in search of the best foundations for oily skin. I look for foundation formulations that can manage shine appropriately and help me to maintain a polished face for most of the day…even during the summer. For this post I’ve picked out 3 of the best foundations for oily skin.

hourglass immaculate liquid powder foundation

Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation

Yes, the hype on this foundation is real. Everyone talks about the miracle that is Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation and they are right. I finally broke down and bought it for myself and absolutely loved it. The texture feels like a whipped powder-y mousse and goes on beautifully. But as it says, it does dry down instantly to a liquid powder making the skin velvety and matte. Some mattifying foundations make the skin look powdery and dry, but this one manages to keep the skin looking luminous while still shine-free. I go between applying with my fingers and with a synthetic foundation brush for the best look. Long wearing and comfortable on the skin, this light to medium coverage foundation is a no-brainer for the summer. Available at Sephora for $55.00.

Smashbox CC Cream

Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream

This Smashbox CC Cream came out of nowhere and knocked me over with how beautiful it looked on the skin. From the first day I wore it, the color match was perfect, the coverage was lightweight and it kept me MATTE for most of the day! When you first apply it, it goes on slightly dewy but dries down right after to a natural matte finish. I typically wear this for most of my outfit posts on my blog because not only does it look beautiful in person, it always makes my skin look flawless in photos. The shade range is good, not great but if you find your shade, I highly recommend trying this. Available at Sephora for $19.50.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid Foundation

Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid Makeup

Part of the super popular Naked line for Urban Decay, the Naked Skin Liquid Makeup quickly became a beauty blogger staple. Again so much hype and I was not sure it would live up to the praise. I don’t wear that much Urban Decay so I wasn’t sure I would love this foundation. Update: I LOVE IT. I never know how liquid foundations will wear on my oily skin because so many are meant to be luminous, dewy or radiant – three words I am often afraid of in my face makeup. But this surprised me and became a favorite almost immediatley. It is a lightweight liquid that gives sheer coverage but can be built up to be almost medium to medium full. It gives much more of a natural matte finish rather than complete matte – so those with other skin types would enjoy this as well. I usually apply with a natural hair buffing brush and it gives a beautiful airbrushed finish. And the shade range is quite extensive so there is more than likely something for everyone. Available at Sephora for $39.00.

What are your favorite foundations for oily skin? Any that I missed? Tell me in the comments!

If you follow my daily beauty ramblings on the blog, Twitter and Instagram, you know that I’ve covered several new CC Creams to hit the market. After the explosion of BB Creams, CC Creams seemed to quickly follow – and all came with the ‘promise’ to work a complexion-perfecting miracle. And while I have evaluated several new CC Creams on ‘immediate results’, I’ve yet to find one that I wanted to go the distance with and truly test the skincare benefits claim – until now.

COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 is the first CC Cream that I am evaluating on the basis of instant complexion correction as well as cumulative skincare benefits. In preparing to begin my four-week trial, I read up on the formulation behind COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 and was really impressed with the science behind the product. Lots of cosmetics claim to improve skin quality with continued use, but the truth is, a lot of these bells and whistles are just that – bells and whistles….buzz words and claims that lead the consumer to believe she’s getting more bang for her buck. Over time, I’ve come to NOT rely on cosmetic products to deliver skin care benefits because, quite frankly, its rare that cosmetics deliver the skincare benefits that make a difference.

But, in going over the formulation and ingredients, COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 seems promising…so I took the plunge.

Based on clinical trials in an 8-week study, participants (via self-assessments) reported:

92.9% of women noticed the appearance of fine lines reduced

82.1% of women saw an improvement in skin radiance

85.7% of women noticed an improvement their skin’s smoothness

64.3% of women saw an improvement in skin translucency

75% of women saw an improvement in overall skin appearance

My shades.

Well color me encouraged . . .

We already know that COVER FX offers a wide range of shades and undertones to match a large segment of the population. The new CC CREAM comes in nine shades, with 8.5% pigment load to allow for buildable coverage. But COVER FX’s ability to match the masses isn’t really new news. So let’s talk formulation – the real story behind the story!

COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 incorporates Sea Fennel, a Retinoid like ingredient that delivers anti-aging results without the irritation or sun sensitivity commonly associated with Retinoids. Sea Fennel is a gentler way to relax the appearance of fines and wrinkles, particularly for sensitive skin types.

The time-relase formula treats skin over an 8-hour period. A wrinkle reducing blend of Portulaca and Ginseng Extracts, Resveratrol (Red Grape Extract), and a polypeptide complex (Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5) all release and continuously treat skin over the course of 8 hours, thus ensuring long term treatment results. So you see, COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 works overtime!

If you follow my Hyperpigmentation Series, you know that skin discoloration has been a major focus of my blog for years. If you’re currently dealing with blotchy skin, unevern tone, old acne marks, you’ll be pleased to know that COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 is infused with Licorice Root Extract to naturally aid in the reduction of hyperpigmentation as well as prevent future discoloration from popping up.

Packed with Vitamin B and Vitamin CCOVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 is antioxidant rich and provides a powerful shield against environmental stressors. And the icing on the cake is a built-in primer (hello, one-step flawless skin!) and Broad Spectrum SPF 30…nothing combats the pre-mature aging like solid sun protection.

COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 could not have come into my life at a better time. When I started my four-week trial, I was nearing the end of my pregnancy…and already starting to think about how I would need to streamline my skincare routine with baby demanding so much of my time. I’ve never been an all-in-one cosmetic/skincare product type of girl…I love doing all of the steps – I swear! But with baby on the way, it was the perfect time to give an all-in-one product a try.

For my complexion, I use a mix of N Med Deep (inner face) and N Deep (outer face). My skin immediately looks fresh and bright. Instantly, minor flaws are diffused and no longer obvious. I like to build a little extra coverage on the outer areas of my face where I have a little discoloration from a recent breakout. I really like that I’m able to build the coverage of COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 and add a little more where I need it. Most tinted treatment products are not buildable…they’re generally very sheer so if you’re experiencing a rough skin moment, good luck. COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 is ideal for girls who want to modify coverage to suit your daily skin care needs.

While pregnant (and even now while breastfeeding) I became a stickler for ingredients, so COVER FX’s Paraben-free, Fragrance-free, Gluten-free, Mineral Oil-free and Talc-free formulation is a major plus.

Let’s jump into the the results of the skincare features and benefits. Here’s a picture of my skin after using COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 for four weeks.

Over the four-week trial period I very closely monitored two areas: 1) hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and 2) smoothness on forehead.

With once daily application, I can absolutely say that my hyperpigmentation was reduced. There was a tiny brown spot on my cheek from a recent pimple…the spot seems to have faded quite a bit. It’s not 100% gone but it is significantly reduced.

My forehead is also showing major signs of improvement. I have this one little pit/ crease that’s the result of an old acne scar. I’ve been monitoring it for at least a year. With very close inspection I can see that the scar has filled out a bit and is not nearly as pronounced…and this is just after four weeks of using COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30. I’m totally encouraged to continue for four more weeks and measure my results at the eight week mark.

Now that I am a busy mom (as if being a busy beauty girl wasn’t enough) I totally get it…not everyone has the luxury of time to get her act together in the morning…Hey, I’ll be the first to tell you — I didn’t wash my face with cleanser for about a week after my baby was born (who has time for cleanser?!). So I absolutely understand the usefulness of do-it-all products. . . .but here’s the caveat — they really must DO IT ALL. And COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 does. The skincare features and benefits are not just fancy unsubstantiated claims and marketing tactics. The formulation is actually quite good and COVER FX CC CREAM TIME RELEASE TINTED TREATMENT SPF 30 does what it says. I can’t imagine that my new life as Mom + Beauty Maven will be slowing down anytime soon — so I’m sticking with my new found one-step wonder!

I’m a huge COVER FX fan!

Face Powder. Let’s discuss!

It is my observation that women have come to fear Face Powder. I mean…you say “Face Powder” and women instantly change their demeanor to reflect that of disdain. I’m not exactly sure when, but somehow, these oil absorbing beauty products have caught a bad rap. And for good reason. . . No one wants to look like a powder face. . . Face Powder, especially if formulated with talc, is notoriously unflattering in photos. . . And lastly, Face Powder is known to settle into fine lines, creases and dry patches, thus causing the instant aging of skin. Yikes!

And as a super oily girl with acne prone skin, I GET the power of Face Powder. It helps to control shine and regulate overly active sebaceous glands…but can a girl keep her mug slick-free AND not look like a powder face? You bet! And here’s why I love the CoverFX range of Face Powder.

The complete collection of CoverFX Face Powder includes Blotting Powder (my go-to for at least five years now), Illuminating Setting Powder and Matte Setting Powder. The collection offers powder in two categories: pressed & loose.

CoverFX Blotting Powder
All CoverFX Face Powders are free of the Inflammatory Five: Gluten, Mineral Oil, Fragrance, Parabens and Talc.

CoverFX Blotting Powder

CoverFX Blotting Powder is a pressed blotting powder that is used to control oil build up and minimize the appearance of shine. I was first introduced to CoverFX Blotting Powder years ago while on set filming a segment. My skin is uber oily, and the hot studio lights did nothing to help. Given my fear of powder, I was reluctant to use anything other than blotting papers to absorb the excess shine. But the makeup artist, a trusted industry pro, insisted that I allow him to use CoverFX Blotting Powder. I loved the finish and look on camera so much that I left the studio with the compact from the makeup artist’s stash (with his permission, of course)…. I just had to have it. I have never seen a powder perform so well and read 100% undetectable on camera.

Over the years as I continue to reach for CoverFX Blotting Powder, the manner in which I use the product has evolved and I’d love to share my best CoverFX Blotting Powder tip with you:

For super oily skin like mine, use CoverFX Blotting Powder as a primer. Before foundation application, I buff it onto skin with a large buffer brush. I find that this not only sets a mattifying base, it also give my foundation more staying powder because the sheer layer of blotting powder gives my foundation more grip. I also find that I use considerably less foundation with this technique because the first layer of powder, though sheer, helps to minimize the appearance of minor discoloration.

COVERFX Setting Powders
All CoverFX Face Powders are free of the Inflammatory Five: Gluten, Mineral Oil, Fragrance, Parabens and Talc.

Illuminating Setting Powder & Matte Setting Powder

It has to be said. Loose Powders are a thing of beauty….particularly CoverFX Loose Powders. They beautifully set both cream and liquid foundations, thus helping to extend the wear to last all day. The finely milled, talc free Loose Powders also prevent foundation from transferring onto your clothes…because we all know there’s nothing un-sexier than foundation splotches at the neckline of your blouse.

Now I’m sure you’re wondering: “But Felicia, which Loose Setting Powder is right for me?” Well, let’s work through this. Both powders contain Vitamin E, C and Green Tea, which are excellent skin boosting antioxidants. For skin that’s slightly oily to very oily (like mine!), the Matte Setting Powder (available in three shades) is the way to go. Conversely, if your skin is a bit drier and you want to help conceal the appearance of dryness and fine lines, choose the light reflecting formula of Illuminating Setting Powder (available in two shades). Both Loose Setting Powders are completely natural looking and leave skin totally flawless.

So level with me…do you have a fear of Face Powders? Have I helped quiet your fear? Leave a comment to share!

ThisThatBeauty with CoverFX at Sephora
*Squeal* I know her!!

WHO: Me!!!!…and CoverFX

WHAT: A beauty play date

WHEN: Last Friday, March 15th

WHERE: Sephora Times Square

WHY: Because I love CoverFX‘s skin perfecting products…and if I love it, I want you to love it, too. So we had a little color-matching soiree, chatted skin, and partied the night away. Ladies: Let’s talk “Complexion Correction”

While “Complexion Correction” might sound like a fancy term, it’s really all about perfecting the skin and helping it look its best. We’re all for that, right?

As a Beauty Blogger/ Editor (and once, Makeup Artist), I’ve come to understand that “perfecting the skin” looks different on every woman. When it comes to complexion, we all have our little hangups. For some women it’s concealing dark under eye circles. I hear this complaint primarily from new moms, girls who party hearty and sip more bubbly than H20 (guilty!), and women of a certain age. But for others, “perfecting the skin” means spot concealing. Now I’ll raise my own hand on this one…I hear this complaint primarily from women in their 20s & 30s battling adult acne and women like me who deal with the regularly occurring hormonal breakouts. For this group of women, we want to spot conceal and bounce. No big fuss. There’s yet another group of women that I’ve encountered, women with general uneven tone or random blotchiness. Some tend to be darker around the mouth or really red around the nose or at the cheeks. So this group is looking to even out areas of on evenness.

Cover FX Cream Concealer

Regardless of your area of focus, I’d like to share with you a product that can help. Cover FX Cream Concealer is a bit of a complexion magician. It’s rare to find ONE concealer formulated to address the aforementioned skin tone concerns. In my many years of wearing makeup (and doing makeup professionally), I have always used one type of concealer for face and a totally different formula for under eyes…but no more. Cover FX Cream Concealer is my new do-it-all complexion corrector. Available in 12 global shades and created to suit a range of pink (P), neutral (N), and golden (Golden) undertones, the self-setting concealer with built-in primer covers like a champ and does not budge until you wash your face.

If you’re an ingredients hound (and I can’t blame you), you should know that Cover FX Cream Concealer is vegan and paraben, fragrance, gluten, mineral oil and talc free. The buildable formula is applied at medium coverage, but by dabbing on a second tap of product, full coverage is possible. . .which is ideal for the lovely post-pimple blemish I’m nursing on my CHEEK, of all places. Sigh!

Speaking of the glorious post-pimple blemish on my cheeks, want to see how Cover FX Cream Concealer makes it disappear? OK, then. This video is for you!

Would you like to win your own Cover FX Cream Concealer? Well, I’m giving away 5. Enter below to win. Good Luck!
