      Hey folks!

So here we are, less than 24 hours away from 2009.  WOW!  Can you believe it?
Before we usher in the new, I’d like to take a stroll down memory lane and reflect on 2008…our first year together!
I have thoroughly and immensely enjoyed the little forum we’ve created here on ThisThatBeauty. Communing with you is one of my greatest joys.
To celebrate our first New Year’s Eve together (can’t wait for our actual blog anniversary celebration in April 2009) I am running a little contest!
      The first ThisThatBeauty reader
to correctly answer the following questions
will receive a Beauty Bounty which includes the following:
Trucco Longwear Liquid Eye Shadow in Steamy
And here are your contest questions:
Since we are bidding a farewell to 2008…
      I’ll ask 8 questions :-)

      1. What was the date of the first ever ThisThatBeauty post?
      2. What was ThisThatBeauty’s very first giveaway? Name the brand.
      3. In what month was the 2008 New York Makeup Show?
      4. In my MAC Hello Kitty post, what does my tee shirt say?
      5. I recently invited a ThisThatBeauty reader to review Mixed Chicks.  What is the viewer’s name?
      6. Last week I asked ThisThatBeauty readers to help me find a new product that I cant get my hands on.  What is that product?
      7. I often refer to MAC’s new releases as MAC Cr_ck.  Fill in the blank.
      8. What is ThisThatBeauty’s fav nail polish brand?
OK, so there you have it!
The first reader to respond with the correct answers will win all of the aforementioned goodies. My email is ThisThatBeauty@gmail.com.
Your subject line must read “New Year’s Eve Contest”
Good luck beautiful and HAPPY HAPPY 2009!
I will spare the emotional closer as I already got a lil mushy right before Christmas.
But I will say this — May God continue to bless you and fill your 2009 with unlimited joy, love, love, love, happiness and all that your heart needs.
      Love you all dearly,
      Felicia

Don’t ya just love Beauty Booty!
Well if you’re a fan of Estee Lauder, you should know that its bonus time at Bloomingdales.
I love taking advantage of bonus time.  Actually, to clarify, I love taking advantage of great bonuses.  Sometimes bonus time is just ok…hello “taupey mauve” lipstick that I can do nothing with.
But the current Estee Lauder bonus at Bloomies rocks! I love that you’re able to customize your freebies. I had the time of my life (overly dramatic I know, but y’all know how seriously I take this stuff) picking my bonus items. I purchased my holy grail serum, Advanced Night Repair…and then got to chose from the following goodies:

Create Your Own Gift with any $39.50 Estée Lauder purchase!

Choose your favorite lip and eye shades, warm or cool.
I CHOSE COOL. VERY LOVELY EYE PALETTE OF 9 COLORS.  A BEAUTIFUL LIP STICK AND MATCHING PLUM TONE GLOSS.

          Choose your Cleansing product:

          – Perfectly Clean

          – Soft Clean
          I CHOSE PERFECTLY CLEAN

          Choose your Moisturizing product:
          – Hydra-Bright (Brightening)
          – Resilience Lift Extreme (Lifting)
          Daywear Plus (Protection)
          I CHOSE HYDRA BRIGHT

          Choose your Repair product:

Boy oh boy is my Makeup Whore slip showing!

Here’s a product I am absolutely dying to try.
            Estee Lauder TurboLash

Vibrating mascara anyone?  Oh yea, I’m game…and not the least bit deterred by the $30 price tag. Shoot, Dior Show is $24  and my holy grail mascara, Le de 2 Guerlain is $35.  So again, I’m not really blinking at TurboLash’s $30 price tag.
Sorry folks but when it comes to mascara, I make the investment.
But here’s a good opportunity for me to share my mascara philosophy.  And it goes a lil something like this…
Mascara is important.  It’s one of those makeup thingys that require minimal effort and in turn offer maximum payoff.  The difference between deeply coated dark lashes and NOT is dramatic. If you’re a low maintenance makeup girl, mascara is your friend!  Nothing says HELLO DARLING like well framed eyes.
Ok, so back to the “cost” of mascara.  Over the last few years, drugstore brands have really stepped up their game and now offer a plethora of great everyday mascaras for less than $10. Some of my favorite everyday drugstore mascaras include:

            • CoverGirl Lash Blast
            • Maybelline Colossal Lash
            • Rimmel Extra Super Lash
For everyday use, when I’m making a mad dash from home to the office, I typically reach for a great drugstore mascara.  Why?  Because I’m not trying to make a major eyelash statement at work.  Why call on the big guns unnecessarily? I’m just trying to pull the ol face together in a way that says “I’m professional, I’m polished, and gosh darn it I give a damn”!
Now fast forward to the freakin’ weekend and its time to turn it up a notch. In this scenario I’m looking for major GLAM and DRAMA.  So that’s when I reach for my $20+ high end mascara.  No need to be all willy nilly wielding the big guns everyday.  No ma’am.  Ms ThisThatBeauty aint rollin’ in it like that. LOL.
But seriously, just thought I’d  share my Mascara 101 with you.  I hope my mascara philosophy is helpful.
If you have makeup philosophy that you’d love to share, hit me up.  I love hearing from you.
