"Mixed Chicks": Stand Up!

Calling all “Mixed Chicks”

Admittedly, I sorta feel some type of way using the term, “Mixed Chicks”…but it’s actually the name of a hair care product line for men and women with curly hair.

Let’s learn more about Mixed Chicks…
who are we?

we…”mixed chicks,” are from many corners of the

globe…europe, africa, asia, america…we not only come from everywhere, but we are going everywhere. the world is becoming more and more diverse, and we celebrate that. here is the unfolding story of just two of the many millions of “mixed chicks:

wendi LEVY and kim ETHEREDGE, two “mixed chicks”, created a product line because they needed it. then, something happened…friends and family started encouraging them to package it, and soon they had a full blown business running out of the garage. after a little door to door hustling, a few celebrity endorsements, and a ton of online customer support, MIXED CHICKS is bringing their products to the world.

Mixed Chicks is the second curly product line I’ve covered on ThisThatBeauty. You will recall that I reviewed Miss Jessie’s back in November. On the heels of that review, a ThisThatBeauty reader recommended that I also explore the curly goodness of Mixed Chicks…so here we are!

Mixed Chicks offers a full line of haircare products designed to tame curly hair, block frizz, add luster, and make hair silky.

After giving Miss Jessie’s products a try on my own coarse/ kinky locks, for Mixed Chicks, I wanted to switch things up a taste and enlist the locks of ThisThatBeauty’s number one Mixed Chick, the lovely Christella R.

Christella is of German, Irish, Native American, and African American heritage…which makes her a prime candidate for Mixed Chicks. I asked Christella to use Mixed Chicks’ Shampoo, Deep Conditioner, Leave-In/ Styling Cream, and Hair Silk. After using the aforementioned products for one week, I asked Christella to take pictures and write to ThisThatBeauty regarding her Mixed Chicks experience.

Without further ado, behold –
Christella’s review of Mixed Chicks:

Felicia –

Thank you so much for introducing me to mixed chicks hair care. As a “mixed chick”, I didn’t realize what I was missing out on! First, I am pretty versatile with my hair styles. I like to blow it out and wear it straight which will last me for days, but I can also wash and go. Second, I’ve been an avid Biolage and Paul Mitchell brand user since I was a teen. They seemed to be the only brands that worked on my hair without causing it to be dry and damaged after a few washes in a row. The mixed chicks shampoo was thick and moisturizing yet still suds-up nicely and made my hair feel nice and clean. I normally have to comb my hair in the shower with conditioner because my hair is so thick and tangled with knots. The deep conditioner melted in my hair and made the tangles disappear. I felt the conditioner untangling my hair before I even hit it with the comb. After I rinsed out the conditioner and wrung the water out of my hair, I applied the leave-in conditioner and ran my fingers through and wrapped it up in a towel for about 10 minutes before applying the serum. I love the way my curls came out, but more so love the way my hair feels (conditioned) and smells (lovely). 🙂

Thanks again for turning me on to such a great product!

Christella
