Big-day Beauty with COVERGIRL and Martha Stewart Weddings

While I’ve been married nearly 10 years and many details of the big day have faded (Did I eat? Was the cake dry? Was so-and-so there?), my wedding day beauty is still fresh in my mind. I remember Every. Single. Thing! Wedding day beauty is such an important part of a bride’s wedding day – it’s like her personal red carpet!

I’ve partnered with COVERGIRL and Martha Stewart Weddings to share some major glamour and prizes with my all of my blushing brides out there. So carve out a little space in your three-ring binder because you’re going to want to take copious notes.

As part of COVERGIRL’s #FindYourLastingLook sweepstakes, you could win a super glam two night hotel stay in NYC, roundtrip airfare for two to NYC, $500 spending money, consultation with a COVERGIRL Makeup Artist, a suite of COVERGIRL products and a wedding planning consultation with a Martha Stewart Weddings stylist. Find complete #FindYourLastingLook pin-to-win sweepstakes details here. You may find  official entry form and instructions here.

So we’re asking the question – What’s your big-day beauty style?

Now, obviously, my bridal beauty days are (well!) behind me. But, I still play the wedding shower circuit practically annually. So I thought it would be fun to fiddle around with COVERGIRL’s #FindYourLastingLook quiz and re-create my suggested look for my friend’s upcoming (nuptial) celebration!

In taking the quiz featured in the most recent issue of Martha Stewart Weddings, my “lasting look” result is “Glamour Girl” – WHAT A SHOCKER! (not!!) I’d love to share the product run down with you and little, mini reviews on each.

FACE

I was actually impressed with the level of coverage of COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation. I applied with my fingertips and not a brush, just to get a feel for how even the foundation applies on its own. The finish is a soft matte… which is ideal for brides, given the long day of emotional highs that are guaranteed to make your skin a little too glowy. After 8 hours of wear, my skin had very little shine on the surface. Note: I was a smart cookie and primed my skin with COVERGIRL Outlast All-day Primer.

EYES

I have to tell you – This is actually my favorite part of the look. The colors are paired together perfectly in one, easy-to-use palette. At first I thought the COVERGIRL Eyeshadow Quad, in Stunning Smokeys, would be too sparkly for my taste, but when I layered the grey shade over a base of midnight blue COVERGIRL Perfect Point Plus Eye Pencil, I was happy with how the two lighter (more sparkly shades) balanced out the look and illuminated my eyes. Sometimes “smokey” can go “Goth” real quick… but not with this quad. And for instant volume, COVERGIRL The Super Sizer by Lashblast Mascara achieved a visibly fuller lash line with just a few quick strokes, even my smallest lashes were reaching out with the rest of them. By the end of the night, I had a tiny bit of shimmer fallout from the shadow, but the rest of the look didn’t budge a lick.

LIPS

I love a bold red lip… in fact, I practically live for a statement-making moment. But with my eyes being such a strong focal point, I applied COVERGIRL Outlast Longwear Lipstick, in Red Rogue, as a stain, rather than full strength. Even as a stain, the color stayed true without fading (even lasting through cocktails!). So for the bride who wants a sort of natural flush of red, pat it on as a stain. But for a richer look, apply full strength from the bullet.

CHEEKS

For my complexion, the COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush, in Golden Pink and Natural Twinkle, definitely work best as a highlighter and not actual blush… their natural glow turned out to be a nice balancing act against my dramatic eyes. I even added a bit down the center of my nose, and at my cupid’s bow, for added “strobing” effect.

No matter which look suits you, a good, stay-all-day foundation is essential to every bride’s beauty routine. Without the perfect foundation, the rest of the look really has nowhere to go. COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation comes in seven shades, so if you’re able to find your match (I’m the darkest shade), this oil-free, natural-looking foundation (a great value at small price) is definitely worth your attention.

  • Anyone will be definitely beautiful during their big day by following what you shared here. You look so simple yet fabulous. Matching this with your favorite dress will be a total package.

  • I can’t believe it’s really possible to do a big day makeup without using any perfect foundation. You still look fabulous especially in the last image you shared. A not too dark makeup that really gives you a grand look in every wedding. I want to see and know what you did to your hair as well. Hopefully, you can share a video tutorial for that. Thanks for humbly sharing this with us.
