HTC Launches DROID Incredible 4G LTE on Verizon Network

DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC

I’ve been an Android phone user for less than a year. I switched from a BlackBerry which for me meant I instantly went on an APP overload and my internet browsing went way up. I currently have the Samsung Galaxy II, which is light years above my BlackBerry but when I picked up the DROID Incredible 4G LTE by HTC I immediately noticed a difference. It is smaller and lighter than my current phone which meant I needed to see more.

Video and Camera

At a beauty event hosted by HTC at the Paul Labrecque Salon, in the midst of drying my mani that matched the HTC colors (totally by accident) I learned that DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC takes pictures while shooting video, during video playback and from a locked screen! How amazing is this feature? Very, because it means I never have to miss another photo opportunity again. The camera is 8 megapixels with autofocus, the forward facing camera is 2.2 megapixels. I think the camera is super fast with dual-LED flash and a 28mm wide-angle lens. Shutter sound can also be turned off (something I have not figured out how to do on my Samsung Galaxy II, if it is at all possible). Video is captured at 1080p and even with unsteady hands still looks pretty darn good.

Design/Music/Apps

The design is basic black with red highlights. It’s not the kind of design that makes me go “oooooohhhhh” but it is sleek and the size is right. The screen smudges easily but all the touch screens I’ve used so far are the same in that regard.

I workout about 4 times per week which is about the only time I listen to music on my phone. The DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE has Beats Audio integrated which improves the quality of any sound coming from the phone. This only works better if you have good headphones because the speaker in the phone is not so awesome when turned all the way up. If I had this phone, would Beats Audio increase how often I workout? Who knows – but if it did I would certainly consider marrying it and making it breakfast everyday.

This phone is on Verizon and for the life of me I can never understand why Verizon always loads up devices with things that I’ll never EVER need. I had Verizon for a few years and never went to the Verizon App store. Why is this mandatory on this phone? And why is the default position to assume I, or anyone else wants a bunch of game demos? All this should be optional on the phone when I can access the PlayStore and access all kinds of Apps but this is not an HTC issue, this is Verizon.

Battery

I cannot get my current phone battery to last all day no matter how I use it. I was told that the DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE will get me about 9 hours with heavy use but simply by doing nothing at all on this phone but having it on, it hit “low battery” status somewhere under 12 hours.

My Favorite Feature

I saved the best feature, at least for me, for last. Have you ever been browsing your favorite blog or online magazine but somehow ads are everywhere? I bet you have. The DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC has a button that hides ads from websites so an article can be read ad free. Sold!

  • It’s a little tricky sometimes, but I’ve figured out  a way to dramtically quiet the shutter sound on the Galaxy SII… just put your finger over the small square speaker on the back of the phone. That’s where the sound comes from.

I’d say that’s the most annoying non-feature of this phone.   Hope this helps you.

    •  @ddpoodle  Thank you!  I tried it and the noise is reduced by about 50%.  I still can’t sneak and take a picture 🙂
