Hellooooo Dolly!

Don’t you just love the unexpected?

So I was in Sephora (yes, that’s 3 times this week…stop judging me:-)) stocking up on my favorite at home peel, MD Skincare’s Daily Facial Peels.
As all makeup mavens in the know know, Sephora runs a loyalty program called Beauty Insider. Every time you make a purchase you receive points towards Beauty Insider freebies…well they’re not totally free. You exchange your “earned” Beauty Insider points for Beauty Insider gifts. You earn the rate of a dollar a point. So if you make a $50 purchase you will earn 50 points. As soon as you get to 100 points, you’re able to redeem in exchange for Beauty Insider gifts. Beauty Insider gifts will cost you 100 points each.
Yours truly has enough Beauty Insider points to glamour-ize every tween, teen, and adult woman in a very small third world country. So having said that — recently at checkout time I was offered a freebie in exchange for 100 Beauty Insider points. I have a lot of points for two reasons. 1) I buy quite a bit. 2) I often refuse to redeem so the points keep adding up.
Lately I’m finding that the Beauty Insider goodies offered (and you usually have 3 to chose from) are items that I have either tried and don’t like, have no interest in, or already have too much of. So this is how I’ve managed to stockpile a ridiculous amounts of points. The checkout folks always marvel and are like “You have (blank) amount of points. Here you can have all three gifts”. And I’m always like – “Hold it right there, Ms Thing…let me very closely scrutinize these goodies before accepting and turning over my hard earned points”.
The way I see it, my points are precious to me and I prefer to hold on to them for the things I really want. I don’t just redeem for the sake of redeeming.

One time, and I cant believe I’m admitting this, the sales woman accidentally redeemed my points and gave me something I had told her I didn’t want (she was being fast). I kindly waited almost 30 minutes for the geniuses at Sephora to figure out how to reverse the unauthorized taking of my precious baby points. Needless to say I gots my points back!

So, back to loving the unexpected….
Most recently when offered to chose from one of the three available Beauty Insider gifts, I decided to go with a gloss. Bare Escentuals BUXOM gloss to be exact. A girl cant have too much gloss, ya know? I had never tried this particular brand of gloss and the color seemed right so I gave it a go. And baby luvs, I love it!

So below, behold – Pics of my BUXOM lips…

Here are the details:

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips
Color Shade: Dolly
(hence the reason this post is titled “Helloooo Dolly”)

This shade is described as:

“shimmering muted plum”

Even tho I carry around no less than 10 glosses daily and have countless tubes in my professional makeup kit, I gotta tell ya – Nothing I have looks anything like Dolly.
Hmmm, this puts Bare Escentuals back on may radar after a nearly 3 year hiatus. I’m sorry but the whole “swirl, tap, buff” thing was giving me a headache!
The entire line of BUXOM glosses are really pretty and fun. They’re carried at Sephora and other stores that carry Bare Escentuals. And obviously you can get BUXOM direct from bareescentuals.com
BUXOM comes is about eleven luscious shades. Find the one that suits you.
Here’s the scoop from Sephora:
Buxom Lips
What it is:
A pout-perfecting lip polish.

What it is formulated to do:
Naturally creates the look of fuller, more voluptuous lips. This mineral-infused polish imparts a luminous high shine with no sticky or tacky feeling. A deep infusion of antioxidant vitamins A and E help keep lips soft, smooth, and protected, while the tingly and cooling sensation reminds you that your lips are getting an immediate increase in fullness.
