New York Fashion Week: Harlem’s Fashion Row Spring 2014

Celebrity Stylist Keith Campbell  was the key hairstylist for designers  Deidre Jefferies, Kimberly Goldson, Kahindo Mateene and Sandro Romans (Men’s wear, hair not shown.)  Campbell created  each look using products exclusively from Dark & Lovely.

Tease and Pop – The Hair design created for Kimberly Goldson Kimberly Goldson - Harlem's Fashion Row SS14 - Hair  Tease and Pop

  1. Prep hair with  Dark and Lovely’s Au Naturale Beyond Gentle Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Knot Out Conditioner  (SRP $9.99/13.5 fl. Oz.).
  2. Follow up with a quarter size amount of the Au Naturale Coil Moisturizing Soufflé (SRP $9.99 /14.4 oz.) to add moisture, leaving curls and coils soft and manageable.
  3. If more definition is desired, two strand twist hair in small sections and mist hair with Au Naturale Shine Sealing Nectar (SRP $9.99/5.75 fl. oz) and untwist to create volume.

Braids with Afro Texture – The hair design created for  Kahindo Mateene (Modahnik) Kahindo Mateene - Harlem's Fashion Row SS14 - Hair Braids with Afro Texture:

  1. Prep hair with Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Hydrating Soak Shampoo and Knot-Out Conditioner (SRP $9.99/13.5 fl. oz.)
  2. Next, make a cocktail with the Au Naturale Curl Defining Cream Glaze (SRP $9.99/14.4 oz.) and the Au Naturale 10-IN-1 Styles Gelee (SRP $9.99/5.3oz.) and apply to the entire head of hair.
  3. Next, part hair in 2-inch sections for braiding. Braid hair back to the middle of the head and secure each with bobby pins.
  4. For added texture, use a small amount of the cocktail used previously to scrunch the hair for volume and texture.
  5. Use a diffuser to dry. Finish off the look with a spritz or two of the Au Naturale Sheen Sealing Nectar (SRP $9.99/5.75 fl. oz.).

Sleek Braided Ponytail – The hair design created for  Deidre Jefferies

Deidre Jefferies - Harlem's Fashion Row - Hair Sleek Braided Ponytail:

  1. Prep textured hair with Dark and Lovely 6 Week Anti-Reversion Shampoo and Conditioner ($5.99/8.5 fl. oz.)
  2. Next, apply a quarter size amount of Dark and Lovely 6 Week Anti- Reversion Cream ($8.99/5.1 fl. oz.) into palms and massage through hair for even distribution.
  3. Blow dry and flat iron for desired straightness.
  4. For a sleek look,  apply Let’s Jam Custard Gel ($4.99/4.4 oz.), pull hair back and brush it into a high ponytail.
  5. Finish off the look by braiding a single braid with length (add hair extensions for desired length).
  6. To accessorize the look, use ribbon and wrap around the base of the hair to about two inches from base of ponytail.
