Mani of the Week: DIY Nail Art Based on Olivia Munn’s Met Gala DVF Dress

Up until last week, I’ve always said Kate Hudson was the queen of the perfect yellow dress. That scene in “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” made me – and every teenage girl I knew – obsessed with finding THE yellow dress to wear to prom. However, it’s 2014 and there’s a new royal in town. She made jaws drop at the Met Gala last week with that gorgeous  DVF dress, ever-so-perfect loose curls and just the right amount of makeup. Ladies, I hereby declare Olivia Munn the new queen of yellow. In my mind, there’s no better way to honor Ms. Munn than by recreating her look on our nails. Read on to learn how to get the DVF style in just 4 steps!

Step 1: after applying your base coat, paint Nars, sharks left, on half of your nail. Let dry for a couple minutes.

Step 2: take Pure Ice, show stopper, and swipe two diagognal lines on each side of your nail. Let dry for a good 12-15 minutes. The polish must be dry before moving to step 3 or else the tape will smudge your design.

Step 3: to create the fabulous blue sash/belt, put two pieces of nail tape horizontally across the center of your nail. Paint your Essie, bikini so teeny, in between the tape.

Step 4: carefully lift the pieces of tape, wait a few minutes and then seal with your Seche Vite top coat!

Whether you’re headed to the red carpet, or to the bodega across the street, your nails will be the talk of the town!
