5 Spring Fashion Must Haves

After my recent spring beauty favorites post, we all know what’s hot in beauty  for spring/summer 2013, but what about  fashion?   Will I sacrifice fashion for the sake of my makeup and beauty routine getting all the glory – I most certainly will not!  Here are some top trends that are making their mark on me and most likely my closet:

1.   Black and White

Stripes to be exact but this color combination is showing up in every cut and pattern.

Robert Rodriguez graphic stripe box pleat skirt – If you need to ease into the trend, this is a great piece to pair with a simple white tee and colored blazer or take it to the next level with a stripe on stripe pattern mix.

DKNY gathered strapless dress  – This dress screams date night with some killer heels and jewelry.   But in a pinch, can be worn with some flat metallic sandals and a denim jacket for casual weekend wear.

Tinley Road bow blouse – Office chic for sure.   I would throw this on with a pencil skirt and pumps for the perfect work look.   Add some bright, bold jewelry or red lipstick to amp up this look for after work cocktails.

2.   The Clutch

I know you may want to carry around everything and the kitchen sink with you, but trust me you will feel liberated (and lighter) by going with the purse of the season – the clutch.

Gap two toned clutch – Neutrals, stripes and a great price point – all the workings of a perfect day carry all.

Loeffler Randall lock clutch – If mixing patterns is too much for to wear head to toe, try it on a bag instead.   Use the metal shoulder strap for running around during the day, and then tuck it in and carry by hand at night.

Z Spoke Zac Posen Envelope Clutch – Metallics are the new black – easy to pair with any color palette and suitable for just about any look.

3.   Spring Leather

Do not leave this fabric out when the warmer weather hits – with lighter weight options in great colors, leather can be an all year round option (well mostly – the boiling temps August may be the only exception).

ONE by Boundary vegan leather skirt – This color screams spring, but the faux leather screams affordable.   In a figure flattering cut that shows off the waist, this skirt will be the perfect companion to a brightly colored blouse or accessories.

Theory blazer with leather sleeves – No wardrobe is complete with an arsenal of well cut blazers and this Theory blazer would work well with any wardrobe.   Worn with a tee and jeans as shown by the model or with a simple sheath dress or pencil skirt for the office – this is sure to be one of the best investment pieces you can buy.

Tinley Road colored vegan leather tee – While the weather is warm but still has that crisp breeze in the air, a leather tee if a great piece to add into a spring look.   Edgy but still polished – this piece will extend its life come fall and winter as a great layering piece with turtlenecks and sweaters.

4.   Floral Pants

Spring – the season when it is appropriate to match your clothing to the surrounding plants and trees.

J.Crew liberty toothpick jeans – Bright colors and patterns are standard at J.Crew and these jeans bring both worlds together.   And with the ankle length inseam set at 28″, they are the perfect pants to either show off a great shoe if you’re tall or forego a trip to the tailor if you are petite.

Ark and Co. floral printed pants – A feminine print and a great cropped length – a great alternative to denim and suitable for an office environment.

Alice + Olivia floral skinny jeans – Super skinny and super sexy, these printed pants are bound to make a statement.   Wear with solid colors to balance out or if you are a seasoned professional, try mixing the look up with contrasting prints.

5.   Pointy Toe Shoes

A long time favorite of mine, I will forever love the pointy toe shoe.   Perfect for elongated the leg and adding instant polish to any outfit.

Kate Spade pumps – Classic and timeless – every wardrobe needs a nude pump.

Chinese Laundry flats – Flats don’t have to be casual – and when worn in a bold color and chic style, they can rival a fierce pair of stilettos any day.

Loeffler Randall pumps – A more modest heel for those of us (present company included) that need to get around by foot and not by driver, but a bold print to keep it sassy.
