ThisThatBeauty Reviews: Manrepeller Glossybox

Blogger It-Girl Leandra Medine, AKA The Man Repeller (TMR,) is everywhere these days – front row at fashion week, center page on every street style blog and now in everyone’s mailbox with her recent partnership with the most fabulous beauty subscription service – Glossybox!  Known more for her fashion musings than her beauty cabinet, this collaboration gives us a peek into a whole other side of TMR and what products she deems worthy of fitting her quirky yet undeniably chic style.

Already a fan of Glossybox and their well curated monthly collections, this box did not disappoint.  Beginning with Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Lash Mascara, and Fresh’s Umbrian Clay Serum, to Living Proof’s Style Extender and OPI’s liquid sand nail lacquer in “Can’t Let Go” – this box is unique and filled with products that all seem to be garnering quite the buzz.  Also in the box are samples of Narciso Rodriguez’s For Her fragrance, Le Métier de Beaute’s replenishing daily solution and a full size Vincent Longo lip stain.  Described as Leandra’s “winter essentials,” I have to say this mash-up of products is truly all year round essentials.

Living Proof Style Extender

One of my stand out favorites was the Living Proof Style Extender which had been on my radar for some time,  so, I was  glad I finally had the chance to try this innovative product.  Designed to help extend daily styling twice as long, the weightless hair primer allows for longer times between shampoos and style touch ups, which quickly became apparent when my oily (and often unruly) hair STILL looked good three days after shampooing.

Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying serum

My next favorite was the Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying serum, a natural stand out to me because of my oily skin.   Used daily before putting on makeup, my skin stayed virtually oil free and smooth all day long.

Estee Lauder’s sumptuous mascara

To complete my shine-free skin and fabulous locks was two coats of Estee Lauder’s sumptuous mascara which gave my lashes bold, thick volume without any flaking or smudging.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her

Rounding out my winners for this box (though they all were frankly worth a full size purchase) was Narciso Rodriguez For Her feminine fragrance which perfectly balanced a strong sensual scent with delicate floral notes – it’s exactly how I would want someone to describe me!!

I love to see blogger/brand collaborations and this one was no exception.  All of Leandra’s picks were great and worthy of the distinction, solidifying in my head that her uber cool fashion taste translates perfectly to the beauty world as well.

Maree About Maree

Fueled by her love (obsession) of all things beauty, Maree Sye writes from the viewpoint of the everyday woman. Recently transitioning from a decade long career as an executive in the cosmetics industry to her current role as sales manager for a baby goods company, Maree has turned her insider information into a spectator sport. Choosing products appropriate for the office, understanding how to transition from day to night, and constantly seeking the elusive weekend “makeup, no makeup” look are the issues that keep Maree up at night. When she is not testing out products and blabbing about them on This That Beauty, you can find her blabbings on A Little Bit etc, her personal fashion/beauty blog – it’s a little bit fashion, a little bit beauty and a whole lot of sass. Maree currently resides in Bergdorf Goodman (or her apt in Midtown Manhattan), spends her summers vacationing at Sephora (or the dog park near her apt), and dreams of one day amassing so much makeup, that she will need a bigger home.
